Tescos are wrong to decide how the money is disposed of
Someone who finds something has more right to it that anyone else except the rightful owner.
If, after taking reasonable steps to find the rightful owner, they've been unable to, the finder has a right to keep it.
Handing the cash to Tesco to see if someone comes back to claim it in a reasonable time, strikes me as 'reasonable steps'Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
What do you mean? Can you expand Halibut?
I was wondering something like this. It certainly isn't Tesco money, the OP has more right to it than Tesco.
Tesco have to show that they have taken adequate steps to locate the owner, or ascertain if the money is truly lost. ie hand it to the police.
They can't just sit by and do nothing, then spend it on whatever they like - charity or not.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
Flip I would be a bit annoyed as well.
I agree with the recent comments. I don't see any reason that Tesco feel it their role to 'dispose' of items not claimed. As far as I'm concerned Tesco were holding this, however, I don't think that means they get to keep it.
OP, go onto Tesco chat or their facebook page and just ask a question like "I found a ring in the car park and handed it in, what happens if the owner doesn't come forward" and see what the customer service response is (facebook or chat means writing so you can print). Depending on what they say to you it might help.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0
