If I found some money I'd hand in to the police, if it wasn't claimed I'd just keep it. I feel that the decent thing has been done and it would be mine to with what I like.
I'd say that it's very naughty of Tesco to give this money to charity without offering some sort of proof to the person who handed it in.0 -
There's no negativity, just answers to your questions.I feel sorry for the poor !!!!!! that lost it.0

I would be annoyed too OP. Lesson learned though, next time hand anything into the police rather than the store.0

that answers the question " what are my rights" does it?
I handed the money in at the outset, I'm an honest person, I don't think Tesco are a very honest business, my case is a perfect example.
This is a forum about consumer rights is it not..?0 -
Tesco support a different charity each year and this year it is Diabetes UK so that's where the money should have gone. There wont be an individual receipt from the charity for it as they fund raise all year and it all goes towards a target figure which is then donated in lump.0

Too be honest whoever you spoke to in Tesco was not telling the truth saying they did not know which charity as it is mentioned in their 'Team 5 ' briefs almost every week and there will be notice boards in the canteen etc0

But you did'nt buy the cash you found it...so there is no consumer rights issue. Tesco have'nt done anything wrong.0 -
I found a ring a while back; took it to the police. They gave me a form to fill in and the ring to take away with me. If I hadn't heard from them (or the owner) within a specified time period it was mine to keep. I didn't hear so it became mine.
I think Tesco are being a bit high handed here - they should return unclaimed items to the finder IMODon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Oh theres a poll, clive would be pleased.
Cant see where consumer rights come into it though since the money was never yours to lose.0 -

In theory yes, after x amount of time it should go to the 1 who found it.0
