MSE News: O2 to hike its prices by 2.7% - can you leave your contract penalty-free?

The Ombudsman have come back with there final decision... O2 can do what they want to contracts prior to 23 Jan 2014.
Not sure if I can be bothered fighting this any more, but knowing that I've cost O2 much more that they will get out of me by going to the Ombudsman does give me a warm fuzzy feeling
Now the question is, do I move to Three or Tesco mobile?0 -
Typical Ombudsmen. Waste of time they are and probably bunged a few quid by O2 to be fair. I would send a LBA and await the result of my case and then take it from there. Whether I win or lose my case, O2 can go chase themselves.
Tesco mobile uses the O2 network. However, for data Three cannot be beaten, plus free 4G and the promise of no mid contract price increases makes Three better in my view. What a load of dunderheids!0 -
I moved from O2 to a sim only plan with 3. Have the One Plan with unlimited data (including tethering) for £18 a month. Plus no price rises!
No response from O2 to my LBA as yet. Tomorrow is the deadline according the text I got from the Complaints Review Service even though my letter was addressed to their legal department. Tuesday of next week will be the 14 day deadline I gave in my LBA0 -
Thanks for the updates ChilliP - just wanted to post to say I am still following with interest. Fingers crossed for you.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -
Looks like my LBA did make it to the legal department as I've just received a holding response from them saying they will respond in full within 14 days. This is in spite of the 14 day deadline given in my LBA expiring on Tuesday next week0

Yep their response it would seem (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is just to stall you. They can turn round and say well we replied within the 14 days given by the customer. Just document it all and if it goes further, use it as evidence of their ineptness. What a load of dunderheids!0

The defendant's reply asking for more time to reply doesn't negate the LBA.
It's the claimant's call whether to proceed on the legal action or allow the further 14 days. But if you do allow the extra grace the original LBA still "stands" and no need for any more correspondence before issuing the claim if any reply you get is unsatisfactory.
(In the scheme of things, 14 days isn't too much of a delay, and of course waiting does show the judge your willingness to try and resolve the matter should you end up at a hearing)0 -
Thanks for the clarity. What a load of dunderheids!0

It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I have the spare cash to pay the court fee so I'll probably end up waiting to see what they do eventually respond anyway0
-
Well it's been 14 days since the date of the letter from O2 promising a full response to my LBA within 14 days. No response as yet.......0
