    Another totally uncalled for post.

Married couples don't get thanked for staying together and trying to raise well balanced children - lone parents get much more help. Sad thing is, alot of them CHOOSE to be single for the financial side of things. I know many people who stay single on purpose to get more money - the same people who would say how awful it is that the Dad isn't around.

Makes you sick really. Why should lone parents do better?

Seeing as this thread has degenerated into low comments, here's my own.

Lone parents shouldn't expect others to pay for the mistakes they have made in either having children to the wrong men, being unable to maintain a stable and loving home life... putting finances above their childrens needs... blah blah...

The original poster is perfectly entitled to her opinion without being shot down by flames.

And we should all count ourselves lucky that there is a Tax Credit System.. a NHS... and all the rest of it.
did you not just say in a previous post that you get 80% of childcare paid?
Your post is so ignorant it's funny.
I love the way you think you know the circumstances of most lone paents. :rotfl:
And as far as the whole finances above needs of children, the op is moaning coz she's with her hubby 2 children and skint
And i'd love you to say those things to lone parents who have been widowed, or do they not count?
OMG some people chat some $hite

Well if you'd done your homework and read the entire debate from the start (thus qualifying you to make an informed comment based on your interpretation of the evidence and opinions presented), you would see I'm 22.

Although I did get told I look more like 30. Maybe if I throw husband out I can spend the extra tax credit on anti-ageing creams and tan cans!

And of course I'm annoyed that others have more money than me. Isn't everyone? How many people see someone driving a new merc and think 'oh how nice, I'm so pleased for them that I'm not even bothered my own rusting heap has stalled again':A

Works both ways my love, how many women live with abusive husbands, husbands who treat them so cruelly they would see them without even £1?

I have said in many posts it is commendable what lone parents do, but then they also get awarded for it financially.

I am not complaining about the Tax Credits, as you can see by my post. I just think that the OP is quite within her right to moan.

There are far too many lone parents milking the system - perhaps if married/cohabiting couples were given the same entitlements.. there would be less children from broken homes. In fact, I am positive there would be. ;)

Well now I would be lost if anything happened to Husband but my original beef was single parent benefits vs. couples benefits and the taxation of individuals while the benefits assessments are done on household basis, thus making the application of the same system to one-parent households and two-parent households unfair.

My solution is to have two separate systems, and also to allow 'home responsibilities loans/grants' to households to enable someone to stay at home with the children until school starts.

And also if husband carks it I get the life insurance plus I'm sure there's a state benefit for widows/widowers, and rightly so.

    Something for everyone!

i thought broken homes were when one parent has f*cked off, not when people pretend to be single?
I dont dispute the fact that some people milk the system but i dont know how you come to the conclusion that most or many do? unless you work for the govenment or something?
Your comments were quite frankly disrespectful to the many lone parents out there and more importantly the children, it had sod all to do with money.
I just hope that one day you wont have to be a lone parent for whatever reason.
