  • Hi I am after some advice, today I noticed agnes brown chook was limping her foot is clawed under and she is trying to walk on her ankle i guess you could say.... of course big mumma chook was taking full advantage and having a go at her so I have put her and her buddy petunia into a canvas dog basket and they are 5 star-ing it up in the living room, she is eating and making babb babb babbing noises as usual, but she is finding it difficult to move in the allotment, so don't want to leave her there, I have checked the foot over and cant see any swelling or cuts lesions, so not sure if it that bumble foot or if she has hurt it in some way...... any hoo any advice welcome, they have fresh water and corn to keep them happy and may be subjected to X factor later hahahah!!!

it may be just a sprain , that should clear up in a day or two. if there is any blood then use purple spray as a way of disguising it.

  • I have a bit of a problem too. Mine seem to be feather pulling each others rear ends. I don't think it is one culprit. It seem to be all of them. ( A bit of she did it to me so I will do it to you). They have plenty to keep themselves occupied, cabbage, dust bath logs to jump on/or dig under, high perches etc. I think it is the hooli gang of not so White Leghorns. Someone suggested vicks or antipeck spray on another thread. Any ideas?

Hope you stop her from dancing during the xfactor Thrift. lol

  • just to report, Agnes is a lot better, an must of been a sprain as it rectified itself after a few hours, was afraid it was the start of something serious.... not had a dead clucker yet so was panicking! so they didnt have to be exposed to xfactor after all, I'm sure the thought of it made her fix up and want to go back out in the cold, thanks all for your help xxx:j

Just thought i'd share with you how "friendly" my girls can be.

DW popped out to the garden for a smoke (she is trying to stop, but that's a whole thread in itself). As soon as she sat down to light up Madras appeared from nowhere and decided that DW's lap looked like a cosy place to plant herself.

DW is "tolerant" of MY girls but this made her flip her lid. The fact that i was wetting myself laughing:rotfl: probably didn't help matters though.

Hope all is well with all of you and your girls.

    Take care.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

Are they plucking each others feathers out - or is it just malting. Is there a pile of feathers in the coop where they sleep?
