Or not, if you've turned on one-click purchasing.

The key is "turned on". By default it's off, giving you the power to decide.

    Apple's default is on.

Apple are acting like some of the other cowboys we see on here, maybe warehouse should contact Office of Fair Trading or watchdog.

The new consumer laws that comes in to force in June might help, but you still have to take action against the company
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

    This just received from Apple:

Warehouse, after reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund for your unintentional purchase of "Proloquo2Go" is an appropriate exception to the App Store Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. In seven to ten business days, a credit of 149.99 GBP should be posted to the credit card that appears on the receipt for that purchase.

    ==

'All sales are final' ... my backside. That's not what the Ombudsman said last week when they hit Apple with a whopping fine and an order to refund affected customers?

Nice try Apple. Shame on you.

Do I feel in any way responsible? No, not in the slightest. I'll update as necessary.

Then you have a skewed view of your responsibilities, as this was entirely your fault.

The screen where you enter card details asks you to 'confirm billing information' and it does mention all purchases will come from this card.
Don't blame Apple, blame yourself for not reading things properly.

Have you a link to that?

I've read stories about cases in other countries, but not any fines imposed in the UK.

But the best advice is the standard MSE line - don't buy Apple products.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

The system is quite clearly setup with defaults that mean a far greater chance of mistakes happening. I was not aware of this and expected that Apple would follow every other online purchasing system out there, I was mistaken.

Unfortunately, not being perfect means I don't check out every possibility and circumstance that could lead to such a scenario as I discovered yesterday. In hindsight I should have researched this, but didn't receive a crystal ball for Christmas.

For me to allow this to happen twice would be entirely my fault. Continuing to reply to posts such as yours despite the situation being resolved means more people will be aware and armed to deal with the poor Apple setup, so for that I thank you.

Can't agree with that WTFH. Apple products are fantastic, but the best MSE line would be to use prepaid cards for kids app purchases only.

Im glad you got your money back from apple genuine mistakes happen, I have nothing more to say with regards to the rights and wrongs of gving children free reign of an IOS device, what i will say is that this thread sums up how people on MSE treat new users, if this was started by a newbie i can guarantee that you wouldn't have got half the supportive posts, as a forum we need to treat everyone the same.

If this is all true, then why the refund from Apple?

To be fair kings I have had a fair bit of criticism on this thread, but yes, a new user would have had a lot more. There is an issue on MSE but it does exist on other forums as well, you just don't get such numbers of people passing through.

What I haven't mentioned whatsoever is how much free reign my kids get on any of their devices or the security I have in place, yet assumptions have been made by many. For example nobody has asked if I am alerted every time an app is downloaded using this account so I can check it out, or what proxy software I run to block and monitor outgoing html requests, but then it's much easier to jump in with pre defined opinions.

It won't change so we have to understand that it's going to happen when help is asked for and be ready for it.
