Morning guys!!
Well it's exactly a week since I admitted to everyone in here that I had a serious problem with money!!!
Gambling & shopping on line were the culprits!!
I had a pretty poor Monday afternoon at work. I was crying & just generally feeling sick, emotional & worthless.
Spoke to hubby & for the first time in a week he hugged me & told me we would be ok, that feeling is better than getting a high on any slots!!
Day off today so going to spend the day together

Hi, quite new on here but turned to this site because i needed a littel reassurance im not on my own.
same for me all my debts are because of gambling and now i am literally at the end of it all, i told my hubby last night the extent of the debts and yes he was angry and at this moment not speaking to me!
i am currently speaking to a few companies about DMP or an IVA which i dont want to do because the plan was in 5 years time to move house however that doesnt look like it will happen now!!! but as i said to my OH we should be grateful to have a roof over our heads now!!
feeling very down about everything at the moment but hopefully after the companies call me back i can get onto one of these plans and start enjoying life again!
good luck to everyone0 -

Make sure you only sign up to a company that doesn't charge a fee.0 -

The guys on here are the best & the advice they give you is second to none...
Last week I was contemplating suicide & could see no way out of my situation & that hubby & girls would be better off without me!!
What a difference a week makes. Don't get me wrong hubby is still mad but he can see I'm doing my upmost to sort everything. The trust is gone between us & the silence almost killed me, but honestly it does get better, as JustAboutThere quoted 'you need to prove to him'
Xx gud luck with everything0 -
How's it going? Good weekend?0

Sorry I've not been on for a while!!!
Things are looking up & I'm doing great!!!
Me & hubby are getting on & he's there for me supporting me through the mess I got myself in!!
I've got a daily budget & someone on here mentioned about writing everything down that I spend. That is a great help!!
Things are in the up! Still a long way to go but I'll beat this!!

Good to hear from you - it sounds like you're ticking along nicely. It may not be the fast and glamorous way to get debt free, but you'll manage it. Think how great it will feel when you can come onto the boards and add your name to the debt free roll of honour.
From reading the forums and diaries, many people swear by a daily spending diary - either in paper form or via an app. Whatever works for you. However, they emphasise that you have to be brutally honest and if that means a small, paper notebook costs you £0.50p to buy to start the spending diary, then - you guessed it - the first entry is 'paper notebook' - £0.50p.0 -
Spending diaries dont work very well for me, I never quite manage to keep them up to date.
However, multiple accounts and so called 'piggy banking' does work in the majority of cases. Essentially, you get your money into one account and then distribute it to other accounts as necessary and according to your budget. I cant go overdrawn because I dont have OD's on the accounts. I cant overspend because it only has a finite amount of money in it. I cant use a credit card that I never learned the PIN on, but it is there for an emergency if necessary.
Ultimately, it is more to do with changing the way you view money, from something you thoughtlessly hand over in exchange for stuff, to something you judiciously spend on things you definitely need. Today is the 12th of the month. The last time I spent anything was on the 3rd and that was for shopping from a specific account and budget.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Hi,
I just popped in to say hi and wish you all the best. I'm doing my own debt free journey and get inspiration from these boards.
Glad to see that your journey is well on its way.Nil Illegitimi desperandum carborundum
