  • Morning all

I was going back through the last few months and realised I hadn't done a monthly update since May so here goes.

    In May the figures were:

    31/05/2015

    CC1: 7429.74
    CC2: 739.48
    CC3: 939.66
    CC4: 596.69
    Cat1: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Cat2: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Cat3: 336.77
    Mum: 1500.00

    Total: 11542.34

    Today they are:

    CC1: 7108.18
    CC2: 547.62 (now Cat2)
    CC3: 874.95 (now CC2)
    CC4: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Cat1: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Cat2: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Cat3: PAID - CLOSED ACCOUNT
    Mum: PAID

    Total: 8530.75

This means I've managed to pay a whopping £3011.59 off my debt in just 3 months!! I know I can't continue paying anywhere near that much each month seeing as Mum's money was cleared with inheritance money but even if you discount that I've still cleared £1511.59 in 3 months. I'm so pleased with myself and am determined to continue in the same vein for the remainder of the year.

Have a great weekend everyone :) xx

  • Morning everyone

Today I have had 3 new clients come in, 2 of which are 1 off fees and one which is for 3 months. They're not huge amounts but it works out an extra £800 altogether so that's fantastic. I've also had the first notification for future work from the client that doesn't pay so will be getting that up and running soon. Although we all know I won't see that money for a long time yet! Yes, you've guessed it. Still not paid!

Have made the PAD today. Now got to go and get Littley's food shop for school. Can't believe she's back tomorrow - going to miss her so much. She's currently stuck under my chair atm as she decided that's the best way to get to her bedroom. Gotta love her!

Have a nice last day of the holidays!! :) xx

  • Well done on your new clients!! That must be a nice feeling. Also loving your breakdown of where your finances stand. It's a good motivator.

Hope you have had a nice last day of holidays x

Littley's back at school today so obviously the sun is shining. Why are the last few days of the hols always rainy?

Have heaps to do with the new clients this morning but am so tired due to Littley waking every 90mins or so and asking if it was nearly time to go to school yet. She was so excited which is great but seriously? Get some sleep honey!!

Haven't made a PAD as yet another client has decided that she's not going to pay me yet. This is really starting to annoy me as I'm now down to £20 until tomorrow when I get a different payment come in but I hate getting that low as I've managed not to for a good few months now - something I was very proud of. Hopefully her payment will come in at some point today as I've got 2 bills to pay with that money plus a food shop and I don't want them shouting at me. Oh to be self-employed!

Have a good day everyone :) Xx

  • Although I moan a lot about my job (!) I suppose at least I have the benefit of knowing my salary is as certain as it can be. That must be so frustrating waiting for payment.

I remember posting on my diary at the beginning of the summer holidays that it was raining as is expected in the school holidays and, yes, now it is back to school it is lovely and sunny!!! Sure thats the wrong way round!

I've said for a long time now that they should rejig the entire school year and make the "summer" holidays in May/June as that's when we seem to have the better weather. Not only is it nicer for the kids to be able to play outdoors more but it can't be nice sat in a hot, stuffy classroom looking out onto the warm, sunshiney day. I'm sure it would do the kids (& teachers) morale a world of good meaning attention would go up, grades would go up, better jobs, economy blah blah you get my drift!

I finally got 2 payments yesterday. One was the lady who owed me from last week and another was from a long standing client who for some reason paid me early. I'm not going to query it instead just said thanks! My right hand's been itchy all last night so hopefully some more will come in today (touch wood!).

Have a good day! :) xx

  • Morning all

Hope you all had a good weekend. As you may be aware the room I've moved into isn't wide enough for a bed to fit long ways so this weekend I was very practical & made myself a bed! I got a wooden frame off Gumtree (knocked it down to £50), brought it home & measured it all up etc. Sawed it down to size, got screws and brackets (which amazingly I already had in my tool box!) and fixed it all together and I now have an awesome bed that fits my room. The mattress is squished in tight and there's not much space between my feet and the wall but I'm comfy in it, it stayed up last night and most importantly, I did it all myself with my little assistant. I'm unbelievably proud of myself.

Made my PAD and the dates for cat2 being paid has now come down to mid Dec. Considering I was only paying slightly above the minimum payments it was going to take me until Dec 2018 to pay it off. This means I've saved myself 3 years of interest - which is about £540!

Oh, there's also a rumour I may get paid for one of my outstanding invoices from May today. I'm not holding my breath but you never know.

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Wow I am loving your handiwork!! As someone with zero diy skills I am seriously impressed with you making a custom built bed :T

You are superwoman - building, working, being a mum and still focusing on the debt!

Have a good day x (oh and hope the rumour is true)

  • Morning!

So, are you sitting down for this? I got one of my invoices paid yesterday!!!! Amazing isn't it? I'm still waiting on one for the project I did before the one I got paid for (work that out) but the one that was paid was the BIG one. Subsequently I now have nearly all of it gone as I'd decided to ear mark it for certain areas so I didn't waste it. Obvs I need to put some away for tax, emergency savings, paid a bit more off on a few bills etc. But I'm also going to get Littley a new carpet in her room, get my will sorted at last and just have some sitting there in my account so if I fancy treating Littley to a dinner when we're out I can without having to work out what I've got coming in/out over the next month.

Thanks Harry for the kind words. When it's just you it's kind of something you have to do isn't it. I don't mean all single parents have to build a custom made bed but you know what I mean! I've gained so much confidence in my handiwork skills this year though that I've a head full of projects waiting to be converted into the real deal. I can't wait. :)

Well, must dash as got work to do and need to get a food shop in. Must remember not to go silly in the aisles without the need for a budget. I mean I have one, but I don't need one. Will be a good test.

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Morning all

Today has seen the sun shine and another hefty PAD made. I'm quite excited to see the end date for Cat2 coming down so much it'll be paid off too. Each time I make a payment I take that amount off the last payment (obvs) and add it to a cc2. Then I take the last payment... etc. so it's nice to see not only the end date for cat2 coming sooner but also everything else.

Not much else to report except yet another school trip has landed in my inbox - along with the dreaded "you need to apply for your child's secondary school" letter. I have no idea why they think Littley is old enough for secondary school as I swear she's still only 5!

Have a good day everyone :) xx
