Are you recruiting anyone else? I might be needing a job soon... :(

Hope you get a nice bit of carpet for your room. I like getting new carpets. Always brightens up a room :)

Why might you be needing a new job soon GAP? Hope all is well. I'm not really recruiting anyone. The best bit of getting my nephew to do the work (apart from helping him gain a bit of experience) is that I can pay peanuts! lol

Got a new carpet. Was only £86 so more than happy. Lovely and soft and finishes the room off lovely.

Have got both the rooms finished now, just need to do little touches like trunking for cables, pictures put up etc. It's all coming along nicely.

Right, it's Mummy/Littley day today so I'm off.

Have a good day everyone! :) xx

I'm half joking. It's just tough starting a new job.

Hope you've had a great day off together :)

  • Hi everyone

So yesterday was a fun day and we did lots of bits and pieces together, ending up with me having a sleepover in her room. I tried to get her to go into the garden to try spot some shooting stars but she got a bit scared. Her big cousin is staying over tonight so hopefully she'll feel a bit more brave.

Had a meeting today with the project client & it seems we'll have some more work coming our way which is great. Still haven't got paid for the work in May yet though so who knows what'll happen money wise.

Been making my PADs and got the new statement in today. Will update now. The minimum repayment has reduced by about £9 so paid what I'd budgeted anyway plus the PAD so that was an extra £12.68 paid. It's all going in the right direction.

Have realised that I haven't invoiced for some work I did last month so now going to send that. As I hadn't budgeted for it I'm putting it straight into the emergency fund. I need to open a regular savings account with a different provider as when I go in each day to my bank I can see my savings account and the temptation is way to much. I currently have about 26p in there which is shocking as I'm sure at one point there was quite a bit more. Ah well!

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Evening all

So another entry today as I forgot to update my signature to reflect me cat2 statement. It now stands at £604.64 meaning I paid a whopping £110 off last month!!!! I have no idea where I got that money from but am quite excited to think how much extra cash I'll have once it's all cleared. That total doesn't include the amount I paid today so it's more like £570 (or £585 with interest). Once I get back off my hols I'll reduce the limit to £600. I find this really helps as it makes sure there's no temptation for me. Especially when it's for somewhere I love to shop with.

I got a new cat for the account I paid off today which means that they haven't closed my account as asked - unless they think if they keep sending me stuff I'll cave which is wrong. Good news is that I put it straight in the recycling bin and didn't even open the book so I'm rather proud of myself.

In other news, yes, I did say "back off my hols". I know some people think it's greedy to have another holiday when I cleared off for 5 weeks earlier this year but it's just a short camping break for Littley & myself with my nephew joining us for the last few days. It means I'm in a field with no internet access (much to Littley's delight) so no work, no PADs, no MSE, no FB, no nothing. I'm not sure I can cope tbh! haha Still, it'll be nice. My brother has asked if he can borrow my camping gear for the week after but last time I did I had to replace the tent and a bed as they came back so damaged I couldn't do anything with them. I've said yes as I didn't feel I could say no but I'm actually considering picking up a cheap 3-man tent for him and his kids so that I don't have to spend on a new lovely one for me next year. Not sure if that's false economy or not.

Anyway, have a good evening everyone :) xx

Happy holiday!! It is actually quite refreshing having no internet. A group of us went to lodges for my bestie's hen weekend last year and there was no internet access in the lodge. I didn't really miss it too much. You just get used to it. Spent hours on it when I got back though... :o

If you buy the 3 man tent for your brother to borrow and it comes back in good condition then you can lend him it again the next time. If it comes back damaged, ask him to replace it. You should keep your lovely tent for you and wee one. I understand you not wanting to say no.

  • Thanks GAP. I was looking online last night and there's a good one I can get him for about £35 or something so if I get him that I only have to lend him the extras - stove, mattresses etc and he's usually good with them. Well I say that..... lol I found some vouchers I'd forgotten about that I could use to pay for it so that way it doesn't actually cost me a penny.

Today I've only got about half hour's work to do as I was up til silly o'clock last night getting everything ready so I can have next week off yet still get paid. The kids are still asleep so will have everything done by the time the eventually wake up. We all stayed up late to watch the meteor shower but when we went to look it was so cloudy & then it rained :( ah well! There's always next year.

Have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Morning everyone

So last week didn't go quite as planned but we had a fab week so that's all that matters. My bro isn't going camping now so doesn't need to borrow anything (phew!) so I've just got to find somewhere to put all the kit. Seeing as I've made so many changes to the house the playroom upstairs is now full of stuff to be sorted meaning the camping gear can't be put where it used to go. I've not spent the vouchers I got for switching my utilities so am thinking I may get a storage cupboard outside & put it all in there. Should be ok and won't cost a penny. Win/win really.

This week is mostly trying to get the most out of the last few weeks of the holidays. I can't believe the kids are back at school next week already! I'm really going to miss Littley and would love to have her here all the time but there you go.

Made a PAD today to cat2. The limit has been decreased again to £600 which is great.

Still haven't been paid which is actually driving me mad now as it's 4 months overdue & they should just pay me! It's my money and they keep saying it's there and waiting so not sure why it's not been paid. Flipping people.

Ah well have a good day everyone :) xx

  • Glad you had a good holiday! It's lovely to have fun time with our children isn't it?

Cannot believe companies think it is ok to not pay people for doing work. Disgraceful!

  • Morning HS

I love spending time with Littley and get frustrated with parents who say they can't wait til they go back to school. We've been having one day a week just for ourselves so having to make this week's an extra special day seeing as it's the last one before school.

The problem with big companies not paying small companies on time is that many small companies will go out of business & the big companies just go "ah well" and find someone new to do the work. It's not on and it's not fair but unless there's some sort of regulation of these companies there's not much we can do. The company in question is a huge multi-national corporation and if we kick up a stink they could take future work away from us. Which although wouldn't be a huge issue as it's extra work, it's nice to have the money so that I can clear debts & have a few nice things. It's just the waiting - never been good at it!!

Have a good day :) xx
