    hi all
im friends with the person who using all the electric
she is in a housing association property that is 2 bed end of terrace and the H.A don't care that her house has little insulation
she was on oil combi bolier and they have replaced it with Logicor Clear Heaters Radiant Heat Revolutionary Heating System its ment to uses up to 50%Less Energy
Yet another magical super special ultra efficient electrical heating system?

There is nothing special about it at all, if it uses 50% less energy, it'll be 50% less warm than with another form of electrical heating.

The HA don't care about insulation because they are not paying the bills. If your friend cares about having any money at all, then she will have to start caring, or start enjoying the cold.

she is on payg meter as cannot afford to be given a massive bill for electric
No offence, but that makes no sense. She is still going to be pay the same amount plus extra on top, to have that PP meter.

she has a 3yr old and a 1 yr old so she has to keep house warm for them
Indeed, she is in a very crummy situation. It sounds like she is not going to get much help from the HA either.

Her best bet, is going to be to use as much money as she can save to insulate her property. If it is bad now, imagine how bad it is going to get when we have a real winter.

Sadly, she was screwed over with the heating system. Storage heaters, and even the oil she had before would have been cheaper to run!

She really needs to find where the heat is going and stop it!
  • No I was taken off that because I was paying a separate rate. I was refunded £113

Is she on ecomomy 7 tarriff, i ask because i have storage heaters in a 1bed flat and if i use them like last yr i can use between 50 and 55 units a night and my hot water is on the ecomony 7 only comes on 12-7am.

If she is on a normal single meter its sounds right she wil be using that much electric.

Is the new heating system not meant to be used with economy 7 or 10 for the extra boost in evening.

When i was with a housing !!! they done all they could to help with insulation windows and new heating (home housing). sorry i caqnt be much help i feel really sorry for her.

she not on E7 as was told its wrong tariff for her as the heating system not storage.
the housing are crap she on fone to them at least twice a week asking them to do something about it and they will just say they will look into things

They should have put you on E7 storage heating and hot water, and sorted out the lack of insulation.

They have botched it from the start!

The only thing i can think of till someone sorts it out is to only heat the room she uses, but even with a 2kw electric heater that will use 2 units of electric per hour, if she has it on full, but it will work out less if she uses a fire with a thermostat that could work out about 26p per hour (going by my tarriff mine is day 12.63 and my night is 5.75.

Is everyone having the same problem.

I would get the name of the system and phone the makers and asking what type of electric tarriff is the system works best with.

What is the kw of the system

The logic, of paying 30% to 40% more for electricity on a PAYG meter, to prevent getting a massive bill - escapes me.

If she is paying £10 a day in cash, couldn't she put this in a bank account(or under the mattress) and pay a monthly direct debit from that amount?

    Hiya,

Bit late in on this sorry :o

Some great advice and info on the thread already and agree with everyone.

The insulation, property type, heating will make a huge difference in the electricity you use.

The best advise for now is to take regular reads from the meter, then contact us with the reads.

We have a specialist consumption department that can help you with your usage and how to reduce this.

There's also lots of info on the website to help with reducing your usage.

    Hope this helps a little.

So you have wet radiators connected to an electric boiler.

Logicor just brings up a logistics company on google so I don't know what your boiler is.

How firms like this manage to sell their snake oil heating solutions is beyond me, they even appear to have conned the energy saving trust people.

HO's fit them because they require no maintenance.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
