  • I really ought to start posting on my diary a little more often. I do keep getting distracted on this site though :)

Everything is going ok. Have got myself a new man, although I don't want to call him my BF just yet...and he is a long way from being the OH! He is really lovely and is very supportive about me and my debt.

Been looking for a new part-time job as AQA has been a little slow of late...not sure what I am going to do though.

    Hope you are all well.

  • Oh no, NOT ANOTHER DIARY I AM BECOMING ADDICTED TO! Just had to post to wish you all the best. I have come across other posts of yours and wanted to know more about you. Hope uni is going well! I just had a small thought-i have been known to have them now and then- I just wondered if you suffered from SAD syndrome as your posts in nov and dec sounded slightly down. I know i am affected by this and have to watch it a bit as i become an insomniac. At least i think that's what it is! Bye for now and i will be watching with interest. Bobx

  • Hi boredofbeingathome.

Uni is going well thanks, sort of. By that I mean that I do need to do a wee bit of (manageable) catching up, as most students do, but I did pass the exams I took just after Christmas. I should have posted that on here before as I was the happiest boy in the world that day.

It is interesting you mention SAD as I started taking 5-HTP supplements a couple of weeks ago, hopefully they will help a little. I have had many bouts if depression in the past and have taken SSRIs for it; thankfully things are relatively stable these days so I no longer take them, largely down to the calming influence of this website.

I ought to investigate SAD a bit more though. Do you take anything for it? Do you have a light box? I have had bouts of insomnia in the past but it is ok these days...unless I watch tv late at night (naughty me).

    Hope you are well.

Glad things are going well for you at the mo NAGD. How many more years have you got to do at uni? The reason I ask is just that maybe if your in your final year it might be worth just hanging on a wee bit before getting another job so your work doesn't suffer, then again you could always try it and see how it went.
I did see some light box alarms on ebay a while back - hopefully you won't need them soon though seeing it's summertime tomorrow...(it's blowing a gale here, raining and miserable so fairly typical scottish summer really!)

Thank you- i don't take any supplements for it although i did boost my vitamin intake. I just started posting on here instead. I find that boosting my time outdoors helps a lot -so lots of walks. My brother uses a light box and find it works for him, he also goes abroad in Jan and weirdly has helped him tremendously-made me miserable though:rotfl:
It's a big boost getting exams out of the way-what is your course in?

  • Hi everyone,

Not done too much today to be honest...naughty me :( Still, nice to see some sunshine at last.

Hi skint, how are you? I am in the third of four years...I'd rather not take on other work but I think needs must. I am looking at doing a medical trial though, that would help a great deal. I didn't realise that you are in Scotland...where are you?

Hi elentan...thankyou for the kind words. If I have written 'CD' somewhere then it stood for Cambridge Diet not crash diet, if that is what you were thinking? Apologies if not. About two-thirds of the weight came off through CD but this was after losing the other third by eating three healthy meals with two snacks.

What I did at the time though was to tell myself that I was eating to improve my health and not to lose weight. I ate things which would give my health benefits...I would have a small glass of cranberry juice with breakfast every day for example, this is good for kidney function apparently. Viewing the food decisions in this way helped me I think...it moved the focus.

boredof...that's great that you are getting lots of walks in, how do you find the self-discipline? :) I'm jealous that your brother goes abroad each January, where does he go? A guy I know does this every year (he is semi-retired) and spends up to 6 weeks in mid-winter getting himself a rather deep tan. The !!!!!! :)

I have SAD so any questions, feel free to ask.

What's your degree in? I want to move to NZ after my MA :)

  • Hi, Nagh- he goes to Tenerife every year (twice), i get very jealous as i teach part time and can't get away when money is to be made!
I am fortunate with walks as i only have to waddle into nearby countryside. I live in lancs and is about 2 mins from Leeds Liverpool canal-very picturesque and lots of surrounding hills, and beauty spots. Not a hardship really and i love walking and thinking-clears the head.
I hate folk who go away that length of time, makes me wish they would look like the bloke on Benidorm-the new one! The episode had an old bloke in a peter stringfellow type bathing trunks- and a deep tan!
The medical trial sounds interesting-make sure it is safe though!
