Op do you get offended by people overtaking you as well?
Of course he does. He accelerates as they're alongside, and sometimes swerves towards them as they pass to make them a bit nervous.

If they're oncoming, they can be sure of a good blast of full beam - because obviously being partially blinded whilst mid overtake is of major benefit.

And the of course there's the brake test for those he perceives to be getting a bit close....

All in the name of road safety, of course.
  • So basically the OP noticed that the car behind was going to be a !!!! and not let the bus pull out, so he let the bus go in front of him instead, and having posted this fact (which has got to be the most trivial of posts I've seen) you all rip him apart limp from limb (one of them spellings is right ...probably). I praise the OP and send my Karma.

I had one yesterday, road opened up to NSL from a 30 limit, guy in fronts pootles along, I dropped a cog and gave it some beans and as soon as I was in front he gave it the big beans with the flashing lights and the coffee bean gesture.

He followed me into the petrol station, continuing giving it the hand signals, so I approached his car and was about to say what is your problem? when he sped off belching diesel fumes.

Again it was a bloke in a Zafira, not sure if like red micra's there is something about driving a Vauxhall kiddie carriers that makes men incensed with rage.

Makes you wonder if they failed the application for the police so now spend their time Citizen policing the road.

Suicide would be preferable to owning a Zafira. We used to have one at work, and the only thing that made me get in it was the threat that I'd be forced to drive the Meriva if I didn't. I used to actively consider crashing it, just to take it off the road for a bit.

SOmeone actually did that with the Meriva: It 'fell over' mid corner. They still bent it back into shape and gave it us back!

The joy of 300bhp is that such idiots are too small to see in the rear view mirror doing their salt shaker hand movement by the time you've completed the manouver.

I only drove a Zafira the once and that was on holiday, I hated it so much when I returned it the chap in the garage was shouting fire!, I was hoping it would be the car but it was only the brakes and clutch.

Totally agree on the bhp issue, now that my commute is zero miles I think its time to go for something nearer 500bhp.

    I'm a man.
I drive a zafira as part of my current job (about 1000 miles per week).
I often get overtaken by much more powerful cars.

And can confirm we're not all like that :)

The guy was probably taking his time to get up to speed not through choice, but because the car has little power.... And the coffee beans was an over compensation.

Aged about 16, I was a passenger in a car driven by my friend's father going through Leeds city centre. Some young lads in a Mini van were following a bit close behind, and the friend's father said words to the effect of "I'm going to teach those idiots a lesson". He slammed on his brakes and I looked over my shoulder to see the Mini van brake, cross the road, mount the pavement and bury itself in a shop window, narrowly missing a bus queue.

Yes, the driver of the Mini van was being a bit of a !!!!!!, but my friend's father turned a bit of bad driving into a near-catastrophe. The lesson I took from that was to keep calm and let the other idiots have their accidents elsewhere.

I find karma tends to strike those who are driving badly, or aggressively, and remaining calm and collected tends to yield rewards.

The best example of this is when we owned a 1.4 A Class. My god it was like a brick on wheels. Tootling up to a red light when Charlie Chav revs up next to us in his duct-taped Golf with an array of Halfords specials attached to it, lots of gesturing at us, trying to taunt us, wanting a race off the lights.

We just stared at them, and when the lights went green tootled off to the sounds of the clutch being hammered as their driver had seemingly tried to do a gear change and failed miserably. The car made some rather disturbing noises before he stalled it. Needless to say, we very much 'left them in our dust' as we pootled away at 25 mph.

They were obviously very embarrassed as they pulled straight back in a few cars back (when the correct gear had been chosen) and remained far, far behind us for the rest of the journey, which was a good few miles. It really was beautiful and brings a tear to my eye each time I think of it.

The 4x4 driver did do something wrong - if that bus was sitting with right indicators on, he should have given way - that's in the highway code. I'm just not sure whether londonTiger gave the 4x4 driver a fair chance to REALISE the bus wanted out, and act accordingly. If you started moving, then stopped again, with him right up your toot, you were risking your rear bumper as he won't have been expecting you to stop again...

Merge in turn is recommended its not the law. The op is a bad driver doing what he did

  • sit back relax and don't worry about what other wrongs people are doing around you, for the sake of one idiotic decision made by the 4x4 driver you complimented it by making another idiotic decision to hold him back for punitive reasons just makes you look no better than the person who got onto your bumper to stop the bus getting in.

whats the saying two wrongs doesn't a make a right?
