Bossy - send any duvets you are worried about to the laundry to be washed and that should deal with any visitors. Anything that can't go on a very hot wash/TD to be cooked should be frozen for 24 hours. I had a moth infestation a few years ago (courtesy of a very small square of carpet from my grandparents' house) and everything (including curtains) was washed, dry-cleaned or frozen. I think I was still a regular on the thread at the time. The laundry bill was huge as all my work suits had to be dry-cleaned, but cheaper than replacing them all!

Ooh thanks for the tips! Did you have to do the whole house then? I've searched said cupboard (contents on back patio :o) and can't see a thing. But the spare pillows are manky <fling> and the duvet is about 30yrs old  the rest will fit in the machine...

Hi everyone and a very belated happy New Year - come to that, a happy Oct/Nov/Dec cos that's when I last posted. I can't believe where the time has gone - or where the dust has all come from :(.
It was doing a marathon clean on the master bedroom yesterday that made me realise how much I really need you all to keep me off permanent sloth-ville.................so looking at this week's list, I'm relieved to see I'm already a day ahead (if 4 months behind).

    My life since Oct:
Freelance work going well; better than planned so far

House: flying actually has been intermittent, owing partly to making the irrational decision to have a new kitchen 2 weeks before Christmas (good time to get cheap flooring and granite worktops it seems). So I did a lot of flying of the de-cluttering of cupboard contents, painting walls etc. Am determined not to put the same clutter back in new kitchen hence the odd box or two are still in the garage :rotfl:

Fitness: again intermittent (story of my life - I'm just terminally intermittent!!). Had a bit of a blip owing to aforementioned kitchen - what do you mean, painting doesn't use as many calories as zumba? not to mention eating too much at Christmas (did anyone else make the fig and chocolate cake from the S*bury's magazine? seriously yummy). Now back to usual classes, depending on work.

So, apart from procrastinating and boring you all to death writing essays as usual, I'm on board. Have tried to catch up with threads as to what's been going on since Oct, but realised at 11am that I'd only read up till mid November so more time was a'wasting.

Anyway I bought a nice new vacuum cleaner in the Jan sales so I'm off to use it.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • Done the food shopping but on way back car is making an awful whining noise when I accelerate. The oil light has come on so am waiting for it to cool down then will go do the oil. Hope its nothing big.....

Thanks Dusty and Natty! Hi Emily!

I'm in again. So was the washing, twice, and out again, twice, yesterday. And another load on. Sunny here, so fingers crossed and all that. I might let myself resort to the tumbler later but I really hate having to use it. Bins and recycling done, DW unloaded, kitchen tidied, and crafting stuff put away from yesterday.

It's taken me a week to come up with how to do a proper clothes sort, and it will probably not involve a trot down to the CS. I may have too many clothes, but I bought them because I like them. I'm going to empty out the cupboards and drawers and put back anything I've worn in the last year, plus the things that go with my current favourite colour scheme. Everything else is boxed (with cedar balls etc) and goes up into the attic. When I fancy clothes shopping for tops I will got up there and look thruogh the Tops Box.
    Better is good enough.

Welcome home Narco - Big Bird Watch next weekend and welcome Emily.

Been to the paid stuff this morning, put WM on before I went and that is now all on the line. Did meal plan and half the shopping list whilst at the paid stuff so just need to get that finished and head to the shops.

I'll fly a it more once I'm back. Lovely and frosty and bright here.

I am a long term lurker, currently on maternity leave, (24 week baby girl & 6 year old daughter at school).

I've always struggled to keep up with housework, I'm a perfectionist so take too long to so everything and get overwhelmed when there is too much, never knowing where to start, so think if I can get ideas for the day from here, it will take the decision making pressure off!

Sheets in to wash currently ... :)

Thanks for this thread! I hope to be lurking here a lot!

Yes and thanks. I didn't comment on any garden progress in my 'essay' - it's all so waterlogged it's depressing. Having said that, it has been so mild in general that we haven't had the huge number of birds around lately compared with snowier Dec/Jan in previous years. My local fairies haven't been back yet.

    Yep, just hung some out.

Same here. Think I've screwed up the quotes, haven't been here for so long. 1 item crossed off today's list; just finished going through a student's essay. Coffee now while I contemplate which item next.

  • Afternoon all - not much flying done this morning - very cold!!! I am going to attempt a double HHC at 1 o'clock if anyone cares to join me - that might just warm me up a little!!!
