    Morning all

Kaz - ouch ouch hope you are not in too much pain vibes for you

KazW greenhouse replace and repair vibes for you

Long day with DS2 yesterday. He is fed up with his part time job and now they say he cannot take any of his holiday forward to next year for study leave so he wants to quit. Just needs to work out when he has to be employed until to get his bonus. I'm fine with him leaving, he needs to study so hard for a few months and then can do some more interesting experience bits in the summer.

Going to do another HH on these figures, not taxing but very interesting (comparing different school figures from DofE to the school I govern at and local schools). Then shower and meeting my friend for our free JL cuppa for a quick catch up. Mother here later for dinner so other than Laundry it will be a low flying day.

    Good morning flylady friends.

Cross words with DH over choosing colour for new bedroom carpet. He says light colour is ok as shoes aren't worn upstairs. I pointed out his shoes all lined up under his chest of drawers. He's the only person who doesn't take his shoes off! A darker shade is my vote.

We are going to put up the new blind in our bedroom today. Only a year after we ordered and paid £££'s for it. The wall to be wallpapered is being prepared. I anticipate more cross words. DH is BIY not DIY (Bodge).

Deco and Valli. Families! I have walked in your shoes!

Bossy I'm pleased the party went well. Enjoy the rest of Ds's birthday weekend.

Yep - and he still doesn't understand why I'm hurt by his actions. Some interesting things came out though like 'When your mum left I considered you & your brother left me too' (we were 6 & 5 !!!!!! ) But TBH that does explain a lot of his behaviour over the years.

my dad always says.. even now 37 years later.. that my mother left me ... He never said 'when your mum left' it was always 'when she left you' ... their brains don't link the children to themselves I am sure of it.. they consider the wife is theirs and the children are hers.. I'm sure of it.

It 'fascinates' me that 'supposedly' adult people are unable to separate 'ADULT' choices.
I know it's not all male thing - it cannot be -but 'men' evaluate all these choices differently from women/mothers.

My ex used to write, on his Xmas cards to the Vallikids that he 'hoped they would get lots of presents'

in itself 'fine' except that he'd stick a £20 note in the card and that was it.

So, clearly he hoped 'someone' would buy HIS children lots of gifts, and wrap them, and ensure they were there on xmas morning with NO involvment from him.

Eventually I informed himthat if he wanted HIS children to have LOTS of presents he ought to buy some.

He stopped writing that in the card!

OMG men - they are wired so differently and some of them short circuit!

My ex-OH never contributed to the birthday or xmas present buying for our 2 kids. No money, no effort, no involvement whatsoever! He even had the gall to moan that they got too much!

I used to start buying for xmas/birthdays months before, just little things but I knew I had to do it all on a part time wage! It still sticks in my throat now!

This year my son asked for help with driving lessons, they are £40 for a 2 hour session. OH kindly donated £40! He's good but I think he may need more than 1 lesson! DD asked for a DVD box set but only got 1 DVD instead!

I'm so glad I'm a single parent now, its a struggle but then so was being married :(

OK I'm energized now to go and do some ironing! Bleak day weatherwise here!

    Have a great Sunday everyone.

    Afternoon all

Wet, windy and miserable day here. I've just put the heating on constant as I'm so cold. DD has decided to have a pyjama/onesie day but I'm dressed ready to do some baking and trying out a new recipe for tea. Bonus is no school tomorrow, so no rush to get the ironing done :p Not sure what flying will be achieved but I have 9 hours to fill....:rotfl::rotfl:

  • I am baking and bread making here too. Just had this conversation with DS:

DS: Mum, are there any of those iced fingers left from when Dad called at the shops yesterday?
Me: No, but I have just made some coconut cakes, still warm out of the oven, look.
    DS: Dont like coconut.
Me: Oh, thats news to me - here try one (please try one I have spent ages baking)
DS: Yeah I will have a little bit then - oh, they are OK. Trudges back to the XBox.

I just wish I could get the teenagers to eat home made stuff, they would much rather have shop bought cakes and biscuits. I am sure its party psychological and partly because shop bought stuff is rammed full of sugar and other c**p - rather than the standard of my baking. Sigh.

Oh and this rain is awful, will it ever stop?

Well, I am going to cook a gammon joint, slice it and freeze some and may make another cake. OH will eat my baking in his packed lunch - even if the kids wont.

    Afternoon everyone.

Not very nice weather today. Brightening up a bit now.

Have tackled a frog this morning. Cleared the large cupboard in the kitchen which has the decorating stuff and paint etc in. Luckily there is a skip in the street which is partly why I've done it. Not much to go into skip and rest sorted and put into boxes. Didn't want to leave it to the last minute then get a phone call saying we are starting your kitchen.

    Made some broth
    Cat stuff done.

Hugs, sticks and spoons where needed.

Quick post cos I don't want anyone worrying about me.:o

Bad news - we got caught out in the nasty wet stuff yesterday. (Soggy doggy, anyone?)

Good news - Evie is not the least bit fazed by thunder and lightning, and is mildly fascinated by hailstones rattling against the door.:D

Just cleaned the fridge. Uggggh. Lots of almost empty jars to be used up. I'm going to make the lemon curd cake but with leftover marmalade, 1 jar - fling. And happy DH for snacks this week. Also uses up the final 2 eggs with BB of 20th December (other 6 fine and used in scrambled eggs this morning)

I'm feeling sorry for myself. I sympathise Lame Wolf. We got soaked walking furry this morning and now I'm sneezing and sniffling. I want to just curl up with a hot drink, but meeting and tax return call. See you all later.
