This morning though half light people traveling with dipped headlights on (obviously correct) but there are also a lot additionally traveling with fog lights on yet absolutely no fog around.

Why?

Because they think they look cool.

Front fogs don't bother me too much but rear fogs when not required drive me nuts.
  • Fog lights should be connected to a device which restricts the speed of the vehicle to 30mph.

If the visibility is poor enough for fog lights to be on, then you shouldn't be doing more than that anyway.

And it would put a stop to the plonkers who think driving with fog lights on is trendy.

Unless they drive round town and stick to the speed limit.

Unfortunately the scenarios when you're driving at 30mph, are usually the ones where incorrect use of front fog lights are a pita for oncoming road users.

Front fogs are annoying but they shouldn't dazzle if there are set up right as by there function there designed to shine lower down than your dipped beams and the bulb are not a higher wattage.
  • Think this has been discussed to death on here.
An opinion is just that..... An opinion

Or because they dont know how to operate their car. Old car had a physical switch, god knows how many years my mother drove around with the fog lights on
  • Gets on my nerves - I quizzed someone in Tesco car park and they said they had them on because it helped them see better. When I mentioned that they're not meant to be used apart from in poor visibility, they told me I was wrong and you can use them whenever you like.

How long until a moron joins this thread and defends using them in non-foggy conditions?

Arguably they (front at least) can help you see better but that doesnt change the fact its illegal to use them when not foggy
