Has anyone used Travelex online ordering with a Norwich & Peterborough BS Visa Debit card?

I have sent them a secured e-mail to clarify the situation and will post their response but want to see if it ties up with a real world experience from MSE.

The website says foreign cash wthdrawals attract £1.50 + 1.75% but this is landside at Leeds airport I want to buy.

NPBS have a link with Travelex for home delivery but £5.40 handling charge makes it uncompetitive.

    Cheers

Well no response as yet from NPBS but I have used http://www.no1currency.com/ through Cheque Centre (Otley, West Yorkshire Branch) and got over 2 SwF to the £.

The website quoted 1.995 so I'm pretty happy with that.

Rate is better than the Post Office and not far from Travelex but with Cash£ pickup.

I'll be using them again if they ar ethis competitive.

Good service again from Norwich & Peterborough

Reply on the secured message system:

If you are buying foreign currency at Travelex, we will not charge you a fee for using your debit card. However please check with Travelex to find out what fees they may charge.

You can use your card anywhere that displays the VISA/PLUS symbol. When you use your card abroad, you will be charged £1.50 for an ATM transaction and 50p for a debit card transaction. In both cases, you will also be charged 1.75% handling fee.

Just a little too late for me but question at 10:30, reply at 16:00.

The "Travel Money Maximiser" says the Post Office do not offer Japanese yen - they do, and the rate is good.

can someone pls post the phone number of Thomas Exchange Global? their site is blocked by my work.

edit: found it on google now
  • Hi, sorry if this is a repeat question- Has anyone used Thomas Exhange Global and are they any good? I don't understand why their rates are so much better for US dollars
  • I have collected money from TEG in person the once.
I changed £1000 to about $1995 or so back in Aug2007.

I usually just use them to pricematch and buy from Travelex and collect from the Airport as that is more convenient.
