Been pootling about the web, but am determined to go out not that its sunshiney
What I've been pootling around is this: I seem to be setting up several income streams (no streams of income as yet, but there we go!) all of which are online. Seems to me that each stream has to have its own site/blog/whatever. Do I want them to overlap? I don't think so ... I can't believe there's much overlap anyway, between cat-themed designs, and end of the world writing(unless its cats that do for us, of course, which is quite possible - there're some brilliant designs about "our new feline overlords"
).
Thing is, I have a counsellor-work website (with my business partner), a personal blog, a cat design blog (with hardly any posts on it), a cat website, and now I'd be looking at setting up a site/blog/whatever for the writing. So I've got 4, and I'm looking at setting up a fifth ... I'm still not back to posting regularly on any of them. And what to call it even if I *do* set it up ... I could call it by my facebook name, I suppose, which is a slang version of my real name ... I'd quite like something about fierce dragonsbut some of what I'd be writing is non-fiction. A retired friend who publishes the same mix uses his real name for his website.
I'm really not sure what to do. Please debate and advise2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
A question I often struggle with myself KC!
I now have 2 blogs - my own personal one, and a specific, more detailed one for my diploma thingy, plus I update the local transition group one too. For me, it sometimes feels a bit much and I find myself doing none of them
:rotfl:
What I'm trying to do myself is, rather than waiting for inspiration, getting into the habit of posting regularly on each one - and not expecting too much of myself. So once a week for my personal one, and once a fortnight for the diploma one. The transition one just gets something when we've done something interesting, which isn't very often! :rotfl:
So I think five is a lot (especially if you're not posting regularly with four!) - I think it's eminently doable as long as you have realistic expectations - what about one post a week, and rotate them, so each blog gets one post a month? If you get inspired you could do more than that, of course, but as a plan that might not be a bad start? Is one post a week manageable? If not, adjust, but don't do what I do and start thinking you'll post every day because (in my humble experience of my own posting) you probably won't:rotfl:

Thats a good idea, Cheery! I like that
We don't post anything new to the counsellor website at all (oops! what an admission - but we're both winding down), so that one doesn't need anything.
So its between (1) the design blog,(2) the cat website (I have loads of drafts, because I enjoy prattling about cats so much :rotfl: but they're all unfinished), (3) the personal blog and (4) the new writing one.
Okay, one a month each sounds do-able, doesn't it. I like the idea of not waiting for inspiration. I do think I probably need a particular day to write - somewhere in Monday or Tuesday, I think, would be best.
It looks a lot, but if I'm going to do it, I've got to do it, as 'twere. Its one a week, for heaven's sakes!
And what blog community? Wordpress seems to be inevitable - I don't want anything to do with a google service, but the cat blog and the personal blog are both on wordpress too, and I'm not even sure they can have their own addresses ... well, these two do, so the third must. How very confusing! Sorry to ramble ... I think I might need to eat something!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi RT! Yes, there is that, isn't there :rotfl:
You know, looking at what I wrote yesterday, I might go with a weebly site for a blog. Might do. I've got the websites of quite a few writers squirrelled away on my bookmarks, so I'll check them out. That might be today, actually, as I have a lot of hours (for me) spread out over all day - there's no time for anything that needs concentration, so its all going to be bitty stuff like that.
Actually, having checked the weather forecast, what I might get round to doing is clearing away the rest of the flowerpots in the garden - these winds overnight tonight sound a bit strong for them
Hope everyone has a good day today2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Such an odd conversation I've had with my business partner just now ...
Started sensibly enough, both of us moaning about our livesAnd from there, some of it was useful - he reminded me about the use of salt in warm water as a gargle, which I used to but I've let it slip. So far so good.
Then we leapt off ... his marriage has recently broken down, sadly, and he's spending lots of time meeting people on a site called j date - he's Jewish, and was meeting up with family in Israel, thats how it got started, but he's continued because he likes it. And he says they take gentiles **whistles quietly, sidling in the door**.
He's seen all the photos on there, he knows what I look like if I take the trouble to scrub up well, says I'd have no trouble in attracting my very own millionaire :rotfl:

If the salt gargle works, I might just try it out
Why 'if'? Are you using that to get yourself into practice?
