Is it a current account? - Can you order a cheque book and write a cheque to yourself (and then send in a letter to close it when the balance is nil)
Great idea, greent:T but sadly it appears to be just a savings account depleted of nearly all funds years ago:o. I obviously left enough in it just to keep the account open in the unlikely event that I might be in a position to save again one day. I did that with other accounts elsewhere but eventually closed all of them. Time passed and I forgot all about this one:o. I suspect it was the old Leeds BS account that Halifax took over many years ago as I honestly can't recall ever opening a financial product with Halifax other than an ISA. Like KC, I have never been a Halifax fan;)0 -
In that case, CBC, make *them* pay for the money, not you! Open a cheque account
transfer the money, withdraw/spend it, and close it again/let it go dormant
I know its a faff, but at least it's free in money, if not time ...
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just been out for a walk with my sister - lovely day out there, and didn't seem cold, plus I had a scarf on, but my twanging jawbone from shingles aftereffects is back a little bit, so it's a quiet day for me.
We've decided on Tuesday to go to my local Three shop - there's also a TKMaxx nearby, so hopefully I'll have the energy to go there for a handbag - I'm going to go leather, in spite of being vegetarian, because of the news about the ocean plastics. No more plastic for me if there's any chance of going a different route.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Well plastic is used everywhere, despite not being the best fit for everything. But equally, plastics *are* the best fit for some things.
However, given that Hammond has just announced plans to raise taxation on plastic (which would raise merry hell without middle-class guilt to sooth the way) and then this story breaks...nice to see the Ministry of Propaganda have their ducks in a row..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Thanks all - there are echoes here, thats for sure
I needed to do a little something before settling down for the evening - it will help me sleep better - so I've been clearing out my little "camera box" - just a tin box with cats onit's really something how the tech has changed, I only set that box up about 4 years ago. A huge great thing that looks like a sim card that holds a whole 50MB :rotfl: plugs that don't match my current technology, bits of plastic I've no idea what they're for :rotfl: a software CD thats a triplicate of what I have in my software box ... the list goes on. I'm keeping a few bits too, mind.
Clearing that has the result that the tech for my new phone can easily go in the same box :j I'm very pleased. Little wins, one by one
I've also been tidying up for the onslaught of builder-dom tomorrow :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Some good work there, KC. The little things can make a huge difference, can't they!
Oh, and I love handbags.....not as much as I look be shoes, but it's close!!!!0 -

Oh thats good, Z, it says it all
Handbags are slightly bigger, mind you
The builder has returned, as I thought he would, and he's tidied up the shed door but can't finish it because the repointing will be done v soon, and thats too much dust while the wood stain is drying. So he's inside, preparing all 5 alcoves (in 3 rooms) for the soundproofing, with the result that I have no sanctuaryyou know what its like when you've got a builder in your house, and you're used to privacy
I love the standard of his work, though, so it's all good :beer:2023: the year I get to buy a car0
