    Hi KC

I know what you mean about making sense of other people's 'raw data' - I am still going through our family friend's stuff and there is a lot of correspondence about tax returns (incredibly boring!) but in between and contained withing tax return information are golden nuggets like when properties on the estate were sold, increases in rents on properties on the estate and offers from the forestry commission regarding woods on the estate and wranglings over shooting rights... all this needs to be gleaned and documented then the tax return stuff can go!! (there is tonnes of it! massively complex!)

Anyway, 2 weeks to go...bet you can't wait!

Oh my word! That's tricky - but to a historian of any sort - family, economic, local, whatever - its gold. I don't envy you the tax returns, though :rotfl:

  • Penultimate. Its a lovely word.
  • It is great, but in this context not quite as good as plain last.
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

"Last" is coming up fast though :) And because I work in a fortnightly cycle, yesterday was my *last* of that particular Monday (which is [STRIKE]good[/STRIKE] wonderful, because its particularly tiring) :j:j:j

    Thank you all!

I did pick a few more blackberries yesterday, and then when I was in the garden, Ginger Cat joined me :j desperate to be stroked, as he is sometimes, but I still won't let him in the house, he's not a stray, he's just nosy :)

No paid work today :j so its about posting blogs, cooking a bit of food to freeze, before it goes off, and pruning in the garden. Plus avoiding too much sun - great problem to have, hey :rotfl:

  • Cats eh! So nosy! They are so adorable though.

Enjoy your day - I'm stuck at work while work carries on at the house. Wish I was out in the sun at least for a little while - might have to make a point of going for a walk at lunchtime.

    :hello: MCI!

Definitely a walk at lunchtime. I'm at home, and even *I* am just off for a walk! I may be heading for my other blackberry patch...

Ah yes, the 'countdown'. I remember it well! My work was busier during the first and last weeks of the month. As I retired on the 18th December, once I had got the end of November and the start of December done, it felt as if I was really on my way

I've been checking the blackberries round here while we have been out walking but there doesn't seem to be any ready to pick just yet

By mid August we usually pick our first tomato. This year, for some reason, we don't have any that have turned red yet, which is strange as it's been sunny.
