Definitely scan and shred
xmy lovely Norfolk rellie, for instance, wrote handwritten letters for a long time, but they were on cards, so very bulky - ideal to scan and shred :j
I'm trying not to do *too* much today, as that's the mistake I made last week when I ker-nackered myself, but at least the dishwasher's been on :rotfl: Bit of scanning, and the garden rubbish in the bin, possibly a walk round the block later on, such is my life until I can retire and focus completely on my own needs (selfish git, I know). This is the end of week 23 in the countdown.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I've been glued to my computer for **hours**
Wedding shoes!
- not too high (arthritis)
- not flat (the look of the thing)
- must go with green-ish lovely dress I bought just before Christmas
- tasteful
- appealing to *me*, which is altogether different
- a strap of some sort that will keep them on - I can't be doing with shoes that slop off with every step
- not black - that dress is summery
This style has come up several times, and I'll have to go for the "nude" variety - all I can do is buy some glue-backed diamante and consider where to stick some on. They're much, much more tasteful than I wanted, but the styles I liked cost twice as much as the dress, and that doesn't really work. I'll sit with it for a bit (actually, I'll be in the shower) and go for it soon after. Sigh .... more bling! More bling!

I've come across a store of letters from friends and family - I've kept 99% of every letter I've ever received  and these days I don't actually like reading handwriting very much. I'm tempted to scan a few as examples and shred the rest. What do people think? I'll post on the Kondo thread ...
I've only got a few letters, ones that Mr Goldie sent me before we were married. But I haven't kept any other letters, apart from one, which was sent from my mum to my dad, before they were married
As he lived in London and she lived in Essex, they wrote to each other a lot. At one point they had kept all their letters, but they must have had a cull as this one was the only one left.
It was written soon after they met, and what I found interesting was that I could hear my mum's voice in her words - she was still the same person, before I was born!
I wouldn't part with that letter, or Mr Goldie's letter, but if I had others, I'd keep one from each person, then shred the rest.
Hope you find the perfect shoes - I love internet shopping, but even with so much choice, the perfect item can still be illusiveEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Oops! http://www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,60/1909886046
They're a great price, but compared to the ones we were all posting in December, they're really boringthey answer realistic needs, and as I say I can glue a bit of diamante on
Goldie - thanks for that. I'm so glad I asked the question, because its obvious that I'm keeping a lot more stuff than everyone else - I don't read it, or look at it, or even feel good about it, there's just a "should" in there from my genealogical studies .... hmmm.
I'll definitely scan some, but most can go, I think. I'm not delving into that understairs cupboard yet thothis is a sort of continuation of the books theme, because of where they are.

There are some gorgeous shoe embellishments around - lots of ideas on p1nterest and some sellers on fleabay and amaz0n - you could get really creative or keep it simple with something like blingbacks and then a row of diamante on the crossover straps by the toes, or coloured diamante, bringing out the colour of the dress, or clip on efforts by the crossover.... lots of possibilities!

Have you also looked at shoe brooches? Just did a quick Google and you can get them from £1.75 each...clip on and off, so if you wanted to wear the shoes for less showy events, they can just come off!0

Ooh, shoe brooches sound like fun! :j Are they like clip on earrings?!
Haven't you been counting down since about 86 weeks or something KC? You're well over half way then! :j :j0 -
**waves at Fay in welcome**
Thank you all! Those are great ideas - okay, so boring bland shoes can be jazzed up and still pass muster as good'unsexcellent news. My eye is still drawn to six inch heels, which will cripple me even if I'm sitting down
one does what one must
One also does things that take one's fancyI found this kindle book free through the kindofbook email: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Story-American-Valley-French-Illusions-ebook/dp/B00BG0EV8A?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o00_
Aupairing in France in the 1970s? That's me! So I opened a Word document, called it European Illusions (because I was wandering about in Norway and Germany and Italy and Greece as well) and I just wrote 1500 words of an outlineoops. But it was very enjoyable :rotfl: even if I never write the whole book.
Blingbacks. Especially for me :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0
