Hi greent, yes, I do feel a bit better right now thanks. It's very unpredictable, which is what makes it such a nightmare to plan. Next week is my last holiday-week-with-no-plans before I retire. I *do* have another week's holiday, but thats the Scots wedding in May - that'll be a bit busy!
Only two things I need to do next week - Tuesday is the hospice visit (I didn't know they had a free bar late afternoon, but they really do) and Sunday, I'm planning to see my sister. The trick will be to not faff about too much at home, because that's what got me feeling this bad
One thing I *have* done, after a bit of a phone chat with my sister today, is actually *think* about my pension scenario. Pessimistic amount of money from setting up annuity plus tight budgetting, plus pessimistic earnings from online stuff and catsitting = doable! Will research drawdown etc again too. Not much in there for fun or holidays, but compared to the available alternatives, it's manna from heaven
I'd much prefer to stay in my freehold property and travel to see my sister. I've been basing my ideas on my mum and her sister a bit too much, I think (boring detail deleted here, nothing fancy, just boring). There are other issues too - moving to my sister's town assumes she'll stay there - but she may not, she has many more financial options than me. Not that I've made roots here, particularlyit's less faff, and I can start the pleasurable part of retirement immediately if I stay here, rather than preparing to move :j:j:j

**waves at earthgirl**
Turns out you're right! I took about 3 hours of breaks, and all I did in the evening was stack the dishwasher, but I'm exhausted today, nothing doing except 1.5 hours paid work, and hopefully getting all the rubbish into the bin. I should have remembered about writing the blogs, oops, as with all that physical work my hands feel like a cartoon character whose hands are throbbing by doubling in size and back down again :rotfl:.
Anyway, my DVD player is going to get a pounding today
Oh no  glad your feeling a tad better. I had the same when I had constant migraines, one minute not too bad so did something, then bang hit me like a steam train :grouphug:Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Glad you're feeling a bit better KC - gosh, that retirement is speeding up fast! (or at least it is from the outside, I bet for you it feels like time is going more slowly!)0

Hello!
Your retirement has crept ever closer since I've been away
One of our possibilities was moving to free up capital..... but by the time we'd have paid the moving expenses and got any new property to our liking, we wouldn't have of the capital left.
I think we'll be staying here for the foreseeable future - as you say, it's much less faff
I just want to enjoy life and keep the faff to the minimum!
It's good that your most pessimistic projections are doable - any thing else will be a bonusEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
How are the noisy neighbours?0

KC- it looks like you've had a lot of decisions to make. It will all fall into place for you when you retire. Sometimes you can plan and think and go round in circles but when it come down to it, you'll make a decision easily enough when you actually retire. Thank you all! I need all the input I can get, to be honest - I'm great at the big ideas, and terrible at the detail - for instance, with the "doable" situation staying here, I completely forgot about the remaining few years of sending money to France for the mortgage over there
which is a pretty big detail, after all
Goldie hello :j:j:j
Cheery yes, even for *me* it's starting to speed - next week is week 22 in the countdown :j:j:j
Sue it's horrible, isn't it, to be ill like that, sorry you've had migraines, it sounds like the same sort of cause
smallholdingsister yep, the noisy neighbours are the potential fly in the ointment, but at the moment its fine, they've almost entirely moved out - people are there most of the day/night, but they seem to be renovating. I *will* spend out on that sound insulation, but I can't cope with that while I'm still working.
Firegirl that's a really good point about planning and reality - I've certainly felt more settled since I decided to stay here as long as I can, and like anyone else, my plans might have to change - my auntie was 85 when she went into one of those retired developments, after all :eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
So today, a quiet day after all that:
- I postponed the hospice visit againthat was going to happen anyway, as her husband is ill with a lurgy.
- send a card though.
- ticket and senior railcard for my mum for the May wedding.
- commiserations to my brother too, who got made redundant again, he works in an area that's under constant attack from this government
Hitting the DVD player again after all thatbut will also be out for a walk round the block, its sunny :j:j:j and there's a sunbathing cat in my garden :j:j:j
