I watched the Prisoner of Azkaban whilst DS had a nap earlier, I ADORE that film. It was even nicer because it was raining outside, I was snuggled on the sofa and had a scented candle lit. The simple things

It's definitely the simple things, ATB, you're right
I'm focussing on the to-do list again this morning, though, getting things off into the post, and a last couple of orders from Amazon - where to buy a rugby themed mug? A nice one?
List is good, half way there - and it does include several big jobs like cleaning, and even the tax declaration2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Very satisfying day
bone china rugby mug bought - £2 to get it delivered to Amazon delivery point, rather than £4 to my own home, and since the point is 4 minutes walk away, thats good! Lots and lots of post and small deliveries unpacked and tidied away, cards sent, bro and SiL's pressies sent, just got to find 2nd pressie for my mum now.
Mahoosive list now stands at 20/36, and 5 of the remaining items are started (tax, weeding, blah blah).
Snuffliness and croakiness of last few days has disappeared - I think I may be allergic to refined sugar, disappointingly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Glad you are a bit better.0

I'm deffo lots better - but I think dust may have something to do with it as well as sugarmay have to change my slothful ways :rotfl:
Lots of phone chat today, and footling away at my list. Will report back later
Hope everyone has a good one - I'm not joining in the franticness this year, but I hope whatever you do, it's enjoyable to *you*.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Goldie, we only need 35, and if you've got 39, I'm not sure why you need to pay more premiums?
As I was in a good company pension scheme, I was 'contracted out' of SERPS/2nd State Pension for many years. This meant my NI premiums were a lot lower as I wasn't contributing to SERPS
A person can only get the full £155 (or whatever it is) in the new pension scheme if they've got the 35 years premiums, and were never 'contracted out'.
My figure is about £126, but I have 10 years in which to make more NI contributions to bring me up for the full single tier figure.
When they launched the scheme, it implied everybody would get the £155, but it's not the case. I'm getting what I've paid for, so it's no problem, and I still have time to increase my state pension. Another 6 years of NI premiums should do it! It's all goodEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Thanks for that, Goldie - I hadn't realised you'd contracted out like that.
Nice long (for me) walk, done quite slowlyand nothing else whatsoever

Love the dress, KC - and I just knew you wouldn't be a hat person! If you have a 'The Little Bag Company' shop anywhere near you they have fascinators from about £8 - which is a bargain
I got pension forecasts earlier this year for OH and myself - strangely mine shows more than him - I have actually no idea why - I must look into it
