Will catch up with your diary properly this evening KC, but loved your comment re. campervan internet.
Pootled over to G0ogle, only to be *horrified* by how much it cost. The first site I looked at wanted £900 + £30/mth for 10GB of data covering most of Europe. Wouldn't necessarily be playing computer games if I was a FI nomad, but I currently get *patches* that would eat 40-50% of that allowance in a few hours.
I'm probably just insulated from the reality of such things, V1rgin just upgraded us for free and currently getting 69MB download speed :rotfl:0 -
Pootling around in a camper van will be brilliant - can't wait to hear reports from the van as you proceed through EuropeSo, I read that as 'at which time my wrestling career will move'. Seemed to make perfect sense somehow :rotfl:.
:rotfl:
During the 90's I had a few years where I used to follow WWF wrestling - it used to be such a laugh. There were a couple of guys at work who also used to watch. We reckoned we could break into wrestling. I would have been Miss Goldie the manager, and they would have been Man Mountain Melvyn and Big Boy Butler
They actually sound like male strippers rather than wrestlers! :rotfl:Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
Yes they do, Goldie :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'd pay to see them too
**waves at Ed**
Say what about how much it costs  Okay, I'll be using free wifi at cafesno way I'm paying that, even if I'm a millionaire
millionairedom isn't what it used to be
I'm insulated too, Ed - unlimited broadband, free calls 24/7 and line rental, for about £26 a month ... dear me!
Just been carrying on sorting out the papers - and oh dear, my illness throughout this year has had severe consequences - at least two ISAs matured this year, and they're now paying 0.5% p.a. _pale_ I knew it was bad, but I didn't realise it was *this* bad. I've nearly caught up on placing documents where they should be, so I'm on the right track, anyway. Gulp.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
0.5%?
Best get switching KC.0 -
I had an American pal who rented out her home and travelled around the US in a camper van. Her blog was fabulous. she spent years doing it before returning to her actual home.
I love the idea of you exploring EuropeMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -

A distant cousin had it even better - his wife used to teach the children of a royal family in the UAE, and when she retired, the king gave her the RV, complete with satellite linkup, and they bumbled about quite happily - didn't even need to rent out their house!
Anyway, I've almost finished finding out where the bits of money are, and I'm definitely looking forward to consolidating ... still, I'm pleasantly surprised at the amount - I thought it had sunk, but it hasn't :j
Plus I've just looked at the documentation for the French mortgage payments for the last quarter of this year, and as at the 25th of last month, all other things being equal it was 2 years and 11 months to the end of the mortgage :j:j:j I can't believe rates will go up by much very soon, so I should be okay. Call it 3 years from now to be on the safe side ...
Life is good. Have some espresso :coffee:

Pootling on Tour sounds great :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Looks like life is good KC :j:j:j
Tilly x x x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

It certainly is! And I slept so well, I didn't even look at what time it was overnight, not until 0618! Thats a result, massive
I have a to-do list today, though I also need to finish the "where's the money" list - its not only where is it, but is it in cash or stocks etc etc, all of that - I've realised I can use page 2 of the spreadsheet, so I'm a happy bunny there as well. I *can't* use the isa I originally thought of to consolidate the cash into a passable interest rate, as that one is money from my mum, and it would just be too difficult to put my own money in there too. So I'll have to find an alternative to that.
That'll be fine today - my only commitment is a skype call with my business partner. And a little look around the forums here2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Ooh, glad you had a good kip! :j
Hmm - I confess old ISAs is one area that I just don't seem to be able to get into my head:rotfl: I actually closed one of mine years ago - I've got one this year but I can't remember if that's just since April or last year too... Mine's with Triodos, at 1.5% and needs 30 days notice - not too bad, I know there are better interest rates but I wanted an 'ethical' one so happy with that.
Not sure what happens with old ones mind you - must check in case mine's gone down to 0.5% too! (Mind you, the amount that's in there, it can't make an enormous difference!)
Have a good dayLovely to see you gathering all your paperwork and getting on top of finances etc - and less than 3 years to the French mortgage being gone!! :j :j Woo hoo! :j
