Thanks very much for noticing my efforts on the '£10 a Day Challenge', KC.
    You're very welcome :)
I wasn't sure whether I ought to commit to it as I genuinely didn't think I could make any money from anything. My money-troubles are complex(and some!) and are totally separate from OH's financial situation. He knows absolutely nothing about them, I'm ashamed to say I have to live a sort of double life which is no fun whatsoever and a massive strain sometimes:(.

When I go for something I really go for it (vestiges of, I thought fully cured, manic depression many years ago:eek:) and only join challenges I feel I can achieve. I committed to £5 a day to start but surprised myself by beating it, so moved on to £7 and then £10. It's amazing how the encouragement of others can be so motivating. It's been fun in a way and I've found I can be more inventive than I expected when discovering even tiny money-saving/making opportunities. Lots of fellow challengers join in doubting that they can do it, but they invariably do (and more). Here's to the MSE Forum and all who sail in her:beer::beer::beer:
Big "ouch" on your behalf, CBC. And you know, if you've found a way to make the vestiges of manic depression work *for* you, as you obviously have, then thats a big plus. Tough keeping all this secret from your OH tho :(

Bless this ship :j:j:j and all who sail in her.

Sometimes I think I would sell the house and move into a mobile home in the field with the horses. Call it a park home. A caravan. A log cabin. whatever. I'd be happy there even without the million lottery win :)
Mr Watty and the Town Planners feel that such happiness should be denied though.
Well, one of my dreams is a camper van, so I know where you're coming from: in fact, a camper van in say 5 acres of woodland - what could go wrong? :) Sorry the nay-sayers are hindering you though, Watty. I'm rooting for you :j:j:j

    Me too :rotfl:

I've read the first introductory thread on m.b.ing **again**, and copied some paragraphs **again**. I'm now starting on the new New Questions Thread :D

And I've just got an email about the rent for the French apartment, payable to me from the peeps who find the holidaymakers - as they say, its 80% of what it used to be, but thats still better than a slap in the face with a wet kipper

I can't accept that winning a million pounds would not be life changing unless you already have more than that. You could spend £2,500 a month for the rest of your life and still have the million left when you died!

Even in London, you could have a paid off home.

KC, my maths isn't suggesting that you are only allowed to live for 25 years, it's just based on a safe withdrawal rate of 4% ;)

Ed, £475000 would seriously change my life :) Of course a million would!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • £50,000 would change mine beyond belief. Even £5,000 would make me do cartwheels:rotfl:. Well, maybe not, I never could do them, but I'd be deliriously happy and would definitely make an exhibition of myself in my celebration:o:o

I think we can realistically agree that £1million would be lifechanging, no matter how much others may have :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm finished for Easter :j had a walk as well :j though I didn't do any star jumps. Haven't got back to the m.b. board yet, I need something else to eat. I may even have a glass of something :D

Sparrows are going crazy for my witchhazel tree, its really open, with a very closed-in rhodedendron right underneath where they can hide if they get scared - lots of insect life in both :)

Mr Goldie's Auntie Doll had a pre-fab. I understand that, in their day, they were considered to be little palaces

If I won a million pounds, I think I'd like to have the same life that I do now, but on a bigger scale. For example, more cruises, and in a suite rather than a normal cabin. I'm not sure if I'd move house, as we have more than enough space. I might add a conservatory, and I'd renew most things in the house.

In fact 1 million might be too much at this stage in my life. I'd be happy with £500k, which is the top prize on Thunderball, which I do twice a week.

I'd feel very secure with a £500k win!

But as CBC says, £50,000 or £5000 would be more than welcome.

    I get excited with a £5 win!

I get excited by 5p 'road-kill' - found 50p in OH's trousers during the laundry binge last weekend & was dancing around the room - then a £5 note showed up while I was cleaning out an old handbag - OH could not figure out what I was so excited about...

    ...a million...

    ...well...

I'd be dead from the shock!

So, KC, about that sealant........... used it yet?

They were indeed - I don't think I quite made that clear enough :o

Thats a really good way of putting it, Goldie, I like that. I *would* move if I won £1million, same sort of house, maybe even the same town, but detached.
