Just caught up. What a lot going on....Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

- the washing machine has a software problem. I've been using it anyway, but I think I'm coming to the end of that, the clothes that have come out are *soaking*.
Are you sure it's a software problem? Have you checked the filter? (usually behind a hatch at the bottom front of your machine)
See how much hair and 10p's you can pull from it...- the flies - I've been recommended to use a fogger, which sounds good.
It's good for reviving memories of Passchendaele...- the laptop won't work with the battery installed, so I've taken it out. That lasted 3 days
bit expensive for £30.
What happens with your laptop?Even the dishwasher's making a funny noise.
Tommy Cooper impressions? At the moment, I can really see the benefit of just walking away from this lot. Can't though ... so its off to clean flies and mould. Lovely.

Is a fogger like a fog machine? Sounds very exciting and atmospheric

I was in that London place - meeting in posh offices on the Thames, St Paul's to the left, Shard to the right and sun shining on the river - smashing :T:T:T. (Then got taken for a lovely steak and had a glass of wine - even more smashing
)
Glad you got your washing line up - small victories & all that and will help keep the house drier :j.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I'm impressed at how much I learn around here - I'd never heard of a fogger before.
Well done on getting your washing out on the line. I'm sick of drying clothes inside - my washing will be going out tomorrowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I know - sorry about that! It feels a bit much, to be honest ... no flies overnight though, thats something, it was a hard frost round here.Just caught up. What a lot going on....Sounds axe-murderer like to me :eek::eek:
As in the Jack the Ripper murders in the London fogs?
That sounds lurvely! And a very nice bottle of red too, thats my taste as wellI was in that London place - meeting in posh offices on the Thames, St Paul's to the left, Shard to the right and sun shining on the river - smashing :T:T:T. Exactly. Lots of small victories add up. Thats what the diaries are for, really, aren't they ...Glad you got your washing line up - small victories & all that and will help keep the house drier :j.
It was news to me too, Goldie! Its natural pyrethrum, and apparently pyrethrum acts as a nerve agent for insects; it doesn't have much effect on mammals, but still, its a pretty intense smell (of burning wood, if the comments are accurate).Goldiegirl wrote: »I'm impressed at how much I learn around here - I'd never heard of a fogger before.
Go for it :j I'm not sure I'd trust my knots holding up the line on a windy day, but something is better than nothing - small victories, as Gally says :jWell done on getting your washing out on the line. It comes up as being an F12 fault, which on Hotpoint means a software issue. However I haven't ever checked the filter, no, tum-ti-tum, nothing to see here, move along ...Are you sure it's a software problem? Have you checked the filter? Ewww! Actually, I'm probably going to the Menin Gate Ceremony in April, to honour this Canadian soldier I've been researching. And now I'll be thinking of that comment :eek:It's good for reviving memories of Passchendaele...
It was switching on but not staying on. They replaced the battery, and it worked again, and I brought it home and charged up the battery. Then yesterday it wouldn't switch on and stay on in the same way, so I took the battery out, and it was fine. Then this morning, it wouldn't switch on without the battery in, so I put the battery *back* in, and now its working again. The battery says its charged. I'm backing up my documents Right Now :cool:What happens with your laptop?
The dishwasher? Yeah, sort of :rotfl:Tommy Cooper impressions?
Awww, thanks Z. As Watty said, there's just a lot going on.Happens to everyone - don't let it get you down. :grouphug:
3 hours paid work today. I might use the morning to check out the filter on the washing machine, tho I suspect I'll have to pull it out from under the counter to get at it (long story). Such a lot! I don't know how people cope with full time jobs, ridiculous thing to say I know
Never mind. :coffee: coming up.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I think I might have been my own worst enemy with the laptop
pushing the on switch so firmly, it counts as switching it off too
:rotfl: Ah well
It was my version of busy yesterday, so not all that much done, though I got back into scanning-to-declutter in the early evening. This lot is about the paper notes I keep of my CPD ventures. I don't actually *use* paper notes at all, when I research, I look at books, or I look at my computer. Anything useful has to go on my computer if its not a book, which is also space saving. I have to get back on top of my counselling and therapy files, because of the retraining and the longer work schedule, so it has to be done.
Anyway, today I have:
- put d/w on.
- paid mastercard.
- checked finances: Transferwise money arrived on schedule, no charges from French bank either. My English bank account is looking a bit healthier too, I'd transferred over a lot of money from easy access savings while I was ill, to make sure an overdraft didn't get started, between France and tax bill and no money coming in, but its so healthy I've been able to transfer lots of money back into savings. Result :j
- written to a client.
- emailed friend.
Friend has just had the worst news, advanced cancer. I'm offering my services at anything that will help, but she also wants to keep things normal, so we're doing that too. You just never know when something's going to rear up and smack you one.
To come:
- take photos for that book I wrote before Christmas.
- plant garlic.
- phone about the washing machine: might try another load first ...
- send text to chum.
Then yet more scanning. I know how to live :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sorry to hear about friend. Just doing normal is probably really helpful for her right now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thanks Watty. I think you're right, yes - and after all, she's the one who has the last word about what feels most helpful for her. I'm a talker, personally, but sometimes there are times when talking should stop and a glass of wine and a board game should take its place

Just done the first photo - its the background I find most difficult, but I think I've got a good'un.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

I know what you mean - I'm rather heavy handed myself
So sorry to hear abut your friend - what a terrible shock. Thanks Watty. I think you're right, yes - and after all, she's the one who has the last word about what feels most helpful for her. I'm a talker too..... when trouble strikes, I'll talk about it to anybody who'll listen.
But we all deal with things in different ways - the main thing is that you are being a good friendEarly retired - 18th December 2014
