It is so reassuring when nobody is an axe murderer.
Sorry to hear about l'appartement situation, très ennuyeux0 -

Hopefuljoy the non axe murderer here!!I'm pleased to confirm that not only is karmacat a lovely lady and fantastic company, she is also free of oozing bodies in her loft. We didn't solve the mystery of the flies but we had a wide-ranging chat and between us sorted out the majority of the world's issues!Just a shame no politicians were listening to our wise words!! I hope you are all well today and its really great news about the online counselling Karma. I once started a life coach course which was also online and would involve telephone clients. Not sure whether that's up your street or not.Went to to see a friend about forty minutes north today and have purged the DDs room. All it took was brute force, a new Hoover bag and a large plastic bin liner! So now I'm settling down with the three cats and Pirin the yorkie for an evening of reading and may be the new film Mazerunner. It's about a dystopian society set in the future. Sheer escapism! I think I shall follow with a zombie film! Do love a zombie flick!!
I love dystopian, but I can't quite cope with the visuals of zombies, they squick me outNow I use my kindle more, I've come across quite a few free zombie novels, and I'm surprised at how well they're written, to be honest with you. The most I can cope with visually is Shaun of the Dead, nothing more than that, and even that not on a regular basis

I wonder if that might be enough? I don't think they're going to get the full number, but they might get 30. I'm not going to borrow trouble, so I won't think about it any more right now. Very Scarlett O'Hara of me, y'know

I'm glad there wasn't anything nasty in the [STRIKE]woodshed[/STRIKE] loft:)
It's a shame that it looks like you won't be able to fully retire when you want, but online work would be a good compromise, as you couldn't work where ever you happened to beEarly retired - 18th December 2014

All that you have written about your French apartment makes my blood run cold. I know that buying abroad can be great, but there are a lot of pitfalls and I am certainly too much of a coward to try it, although oh and I are considering renting abroad and simultaneously renting out this house to fund it for the winter months, but that is a way into the future.
It is a worry about the axe murderer thing. After all, you and hopeful may be in it together.. Or the same person, sharpening your axe after having lulled us all into a false sense of security.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -

Its Hopefuljoy that likes zombies, not me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Trying to think what I'd be: not a harnessed kid from Falling Skies. Not a Thing From Outer Space.
Is that Thing From Another World? The alien from the John Carpenter re-make "The Thing" was a lot more "useful" - though if you're squeamish, you probably haven't seen it...Probably an Ancient from Stargate :jdescended out of a white blobby thing to take part in the human race

Never met Ed, no
are there axes involved? :rotfl:
My patio was dug up three years ago to put the drains in for the new loo upstairs, and I promise its clear
D'you know, I don't think I ever saw the Quatermass films, I never caught up with them. Just done an image search tho - and I tell you, if that was up in my loft, I wouldn't be in the house! If *I* was that, however, I don't think anyone would be living in my road :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Sigh ... there are so many **current** issues right now:
- the washing machine has a software problem. I've been using it anyway, but I think I'm coming to the end of that, the clothes that have come out are *soaking*.
- the mould
- the flies - I've been recommended to use a fogger, which sounds good.
- the laptop won't work with the battery installed, so I've taken it out. That lasted 3 daysbit expensive for £30.
- and the French flat. No more news overnight about numbers signing up, which I didn't really expect.
I'll wait and see on the French flat, but the plan for today is to blitz the "public" area - the last of my shredding is in the counselling room (and making a fine old mess of it), the bodies of the flies are dripping down the stairs, *towards* the mould, which also needs to be got rid of. The whole place is suddenly falling apart, which I suppose is what happens when you buy stuff all at the same time when you move to a new place, and then don't do much maintenance because you keep getting a virus. Even the dishwasher's making a funny noise. At the moment, I can really see the benefit of just walking away from this lot. Can't though ... so its off to clean flies and mould. Lovely.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
