Just carrying on with these, really, and the cleaning is about carrying on getting rid of the black mould just inside the front door, on the walls and floor :o its really disgusting the way I've let it build up :o

We have the same problem with the black mould, Karmacat:eek:. I try to keep on top of cleaning it away regularly but it just keeps coming back:mad:. Have you a good removal remedy that you can recommend (preferably a MSE one;)) please?. We've got wallpaper in one of the black areas and it is very hard to shift mould from that.

This is great at removing it. I think Lakeland and B&Q sell it. Much better than any other I've tried and ok as long as the wallpaper is not very bright colours.

Alternatively, move to a drier climate :)

Morning all! Thank you Steve, thats great! Can I ask a step further, tho? Whats "above" in those terms? As in, "evens or above"? Would that be decimal odds of 1.5? I've done m.b. before, but it was a while ago, and when I don't do it regularly, I forget this stuff :o
Yes the higher the number, the higher the odds. So evens, 1.0 is pretty much a dead cert, england to beat san morino for example.
England to beat spain however, might be more like 9.0, quiet a bit less likely.
San morino to beat england, 300, a very very unlikely event.

Remember, the higher the odds you choose, the more money you need in betfair to lay that bet. So for example:
Man. u. v liverpool to win 2.0 at bookie
Man u to draw or lose (lay) v liverpool 2.1 at BF
To cover this bet you would need £10.73 in your BF accound, However, move up to higher odds, Of say 7.0 and 7.1 and you would need £60.57 in your account.
I found this calc, which is quit nice and simple.

    Mortgage £242500 on completion

    FD loan Approx £5700

I came up with a quick way for calculating fractional odds into decimal odds this morning, useful if the website doesn't do it for you.

I forget the proper names for the two sides of a bet (i.e. 2/1), but an easy way to calculate decimal odds would be:

    Likely to happen (for example 1 (x)/5 (y)) = 0.2 + 1 = 1.2 (where x is smaller than y)
    Unlikely to happen (for example 5 (x)/1 (y)) = (5 x 1) +1 = 6.0 (where x is larger than y)

Where else could you get information about mould removing spray and matched betting, on the same page.

Both pieces of info noted for future use

KC, we also have washing draped around. I have a drier, but I'm trying to limit use for two reasons - cost considerations, and it squeaks when the drum turns, so I'm convinced it's on it's last legs. I want to make sure it still works for when I return from my holiday, when I really will need to use it

We are indeed a diverse bunch. Whatever adds to the money pot, is a bonus though. :)

I know, isn't it brilliant :j thank you all :T:T:T

Gally that HG Mould thing is the one I use - for about 80% of the time, it really does what they say it does, which is a *very* high percentage :) My move to a drier climate is in train, but the house will stay here :D

Goldie, hope your drier holds out! I really, really should have got my washing line up over the summer - I've got all the fixings - but I just didn't :(

Ed and Ste, thank you! So higher odds are longer odds, i.e. something is less likely to happen ... an outsider in the Grand National is 100/1, and in decimal terms thats probably something ridiculous like 99.9 ... its the principle I'm trying to force into my skull, not the particular odds :o "high" is the same as "long". Actually, thats really simple :o:o:o

And that m.b. website looks great - aww, but it looks like a blog that somebody abandoned. They put a lot of work into it too.

After what Gally said about moving to drier climates, I was looking at Spanish campsites that take camper vans for a little while :o

Back to mse for now (so I can go live in a camper van in Spain!). Adding money to the pot is the thing, as Steve said, whether its by matched betting, buying well whether cashback or discount or free delivery etc, growing our own, or building a second income. I aim to do all of the above :D I've had my long session today, so not much else gets done, I'm afraid, though I've got some downloaded photos to play with, and I can get some stuff posted up on ebay. I don't think much of my stuff is any good for ebay tho - 5 sales a week like you get, Goldie - in my dreams

Need to have a walk around the boards first, tho :)

Lol, if it wasn't for my friend, my eBay sales would be paltry at the moment - the majority of the things that sell are hers. I'm hoping to get a few things together in the new year, after my big wardrobe cull that I'm planning.

It's days like today when a move to warmer, dryer climate is a very attractive proposition. Having been on cruises for the last 13 years or so, we haven't got an area overseas that we are very familiar with. We just spend a day in a port, then move on Therefore we haven't got a place in mind that we'd think of as a retirement spot. ( unfortunately)

I think retiring overseas will one of those vicarious things for us, but I'm looking forward one day to reading how everyone gets on.

A camper van in Spain sounds interesting, KC - it's got a slightly 1960's vibe going on:)
