Many thanks, I have not long applied to Nationwide,it seems to me that the Mastercard banks use a different system to Visa..
the only thing with Nationwide is its pre approved in principle, and you have to wait for them to send a letter out for ID (which I understand as I could be anybody on a computer)
Then 10 days later you get your bumph through the post....
We will wait and see,I am not applying for any more as two in a day is more than enough ........
I recently got a nationwide card online and was given account numbers, told of the credit limit and APR there and then. it also processed my balance transfer there and then also. The following day it was showing as a pending payment off my other card.0 -
I must say though without any true evidence that soft searches and hard searches are no different in what they search I'm still willing to bet they're different in some way if only one tiny bit of info, hence declining people after 90% success on the soft quotes.
1. Information you provide on the application form
2. Information they find on your credit report
3. Information they've assembled from previous dealings with you
OK there are FPAs as well, but we'll leave them to one side here.
You'll note that the eligibility checkers request very little information, so there's further information required once you make a formal application, or turn your eligibility checker into a formal application (or accept an offer as in the case of Nationwide).
As to your credit report, what would be point in not checking your account history (payments/limits/balances/etc) during the pre-checker?...answer, none - because you can't make an initial lending decision on ER, address history, CCJs, BR alone.
And the last point speaks for itself.
But to pick up on one point you made...what "one tiny bit of info" do you think may be omitted from the results of a soft search, only to be released after a hard search is carried out?0 -

Thanks my Grammar is not the best but you're on the wrong thread mate this is about soft quotes with credit cards. I've put you a link up to make it easier for you next time.

It isn't just you, its about 80% of the population as far as I can tell.
You've only got to read eBay listings to realise there is an endemic problem with spelling and grammar in this country.0 -

Arrive in Turkey.
Spend in Turkish shops.
Withdraw from Turkish ATMs. Subject to interest (modest if cleared in full).
Pay the bill in full when you get home. Or sooner.0 -

But is that how you get the GREAT rate? Or just a decent one?!0 -

But then I'd have been earning 50p or thereabouts for each one flogged.
On the basis that it's top rate available I'd say "great" is a reasonable description. But I'd guess there are some currency hungry Middle East countries that would pay a premium for cold hard cash. I've no idea if Turkish holiday resorts are like this though.0 -

50p per card? Blimey, when I worked for them, I had to sell credit card repayment cover 8 times a day in the call centre or lose my job! The only reward was receiving another months pay cheque!
Still, they (and other banks) are really paying for their heavy handed selling techniques now. Good!0
