Do you think the friend was persuaded to take you along, for a fee?
These type of people usually persuade you to bring someone else along so that" they too can learn the hidden secrets that will make you a millionaire" but I don't know if they offer inducement for it.Of course it makes perfect business sense for the self styled "guru"and would be very tempting.:(
  • Im pretty much thinking that might be the case...
To be honest I'm feeling pretty sick about it.
I hope to get my money back and make people aware so that they do not fall into the same trap.

well if you want to throw more money after good, you can go to a solicitor but to recommend a decent one you have to give us half a chance and tell us what part of the country you are in

There were only 6 lines in the OP. One of them said they were based in London.
  • Thanks hollydays I will look out for it.

Thanks guys for all the info.
    It is appreciated.
holldays is right...That is exactly what she said...No motivation.
But I'm sorry I'm a law abiding citizen...It is as simple as that.
No contract was signed. The only reason I actually went in for this is that my friend of many years signed up to it.
Being law abiding would not make much difference. Very few of the "punters" ever make anything from these type of ventures.

I think a stiff letter along the lines of "refund me as you have provided written instructions on an illegal activity" plus a warning that you will be forced to take this further with the authorities should a refund not be forthcoming.

Enclose a copy of said instructions

In other words a classic pyramid/Ponzi scheme.
