Not sure if my question can be answered here, but I've gone boss-eyed looking through old posts! I recently took out a 3mobile plan, just the basic £6.90 per month which includes 500texts etc., and have now discovered that these texts only apply here on mainland England, I will be charged for any texts outside Uk.

Why that should come as a surprise is strange, no network includes international texts in a domestic allowance.

Also, I sent a couple of texts to my friend in Australia, which she got fine, but her replies don't get back to me. I phoned 3mobile about this and they say that as she is with Optus and they don't have an arrangement with them, her replies will not be received here. Has anyone else experienced this? My friend says that Optus is one of the biggest providers in Oz and she'd very surprised if this is the truth, she thinks they may be fobbing me off - any ideas?

That sounds like nonsense, I can only presume the CSA has got confused by roaming, if you are sending the text correctly formatted to the Aus number +61xxxxxxxx it should go through. A quick search of "Optus messages not being received" seems to show a large number of complaints and reports of people not being able to text to Optus numbers, so the problem might be with Optus.

Do you have any problem with any other numbers you text?

Thanks for your reply, I didn't know about all plans having to pay extra, I've had an old Nokia phone for years with Orange on a pay as you speak and was fed up with their frequent increasing charges. The final straw came when I was being charged 40p to listen to voicemail and most of the time the messages were ads frrom Orange! I may add that I'm a very slow learner on all things technical, so this new 3mobile plan is still a mystery to me, along with my brand spanking new Samsung touch screen phone (a whole new and confusing world for me) so please be patient with me:)
Yes, I've also sent texts to my sister in Italy and she replies but it doesn't get to me, however my texts to other family members in Spain, U.S., and Ireland have been replied to with no problem. I was on the phone for so long to 3mobile yesterday (two different people in India) that by the time the last chap said Optus had no agreement with them, I forgot to ask about Italy.

If you're on Three, see if the places you're bidding are part of the "Feel at Home" scheme.

If not, then all about roaming bundles, or turn off data

Looks like unlimited tethering is now ending completely, even on the previously unlimited sim only One Plan

Here are the updated terms in relation to tethering (Personal Hotspot)

Now showing tethering limits of 2GB and 4GB (depending on the plan)

So it looks like the days of unlimited tethering for all new customers have come to an end, shame really as Three were unique in being the only network in the UK to offer this.

My understanding is the new tether caps apply to the new 2014 24 month phone plans (2GB) and new 2014 Sim Only plans i.e. those introduced yesterday.

The One Plan is unchanged for existing subscribers and can no longer be purchased by new subscribers.

Its reads like a 25gb limit for sim only All you can eat data to me.

    http://www.three.co.uk/ThreePortal/Satellite?blobcol=urldata&blobheader=application%2Fpdf&blobkey=id&blobnocache=false&blobtable=MungoBlobs&blobwhere=1223591130168&ssbinary=true

But Three are known for screwing up on price change day - So I wouldnt be surprised if the 25gb limit is for feel at home countries only.

The link appears to be applicable to Three's new sim plans i.e. "Our New Sim Plans" as per the opening page. Is there any reference to The One Plan ?

Also from DigitalSpy thread linked earlier -

"No. Existing customers stay on the same plan and T&C they're on already.

So if you're on the one plan then it's still unlimited data and tethering etc... "

The one plan is no longer available, existing customers remaining on their plan as has always been the way. I didnt think that needed pointing out as it is now unavailable for new customers/plan switchers.

My post was to point out the changes to the new sim only plans that have replaced the one plan for new subscribers from today onwards.
