Leaving HL without transfer charges

This is pretty much the problem I faced with the transfer of my SIPP from HL to ATS, posts describing it being scattered throughout this long thread. So you're not alone, although in my case ATS spotted the HL-only fund immediately.
To be fair to ATS they did say from the start that the fund could not be transferred and rang me right at the beginning to discuss which funds could be transferred. They instructed HL correctly. Just that HL randomly sold and transferred stuff on the whim of some Tarquin who was doing the transaction.0 -
I see iii are giving new customers £120+ if they switch to them...0

And can you still get a pen from HL for switching back?
Mind you, it would have to be solid gold to lure me back!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -
I really have to get my act in gear but work is VERY busy at the moment and I have a load of other things going on. I used iii before but thought their interface was guff compared to Hargreaves, and I was outraged at their RDR changes. But Hargreaves is more expensive if going over ~£20k. This table is good:

£120 + £120 in dealing isn't to be sniffed at. I probably wouldn't be making that many trades though, so the £80 fee per year would be just that - a fee. I also have to consider the horror stories encountered here regarding moving out of Hargreaves. Selling up to cash and then transferring seems the quickest way (if not the most desirable). I have to say I do really like the Hargreaves website - it's so much better than any others I've used. The percentage charge though - ugh!0 -
Nice attitude!
Illegitimi non carborundum
:rotfl:I wish to put forward a hypothesis (based somewhat unscientifically on my own experience only) that the time it takes for HL to transfer cash is directly proportional to the sum involved:
£17 - same day
£11,000 - one week
£85,000 - nine weeks:p

Don't forget all the prepaid envelopes :T
Maybe one can use the trading credits in some bed and ISA transactions.Bossymoo

How about the Motley Fool share service (though I can't see what funds you can buy with them, if any)?

For some reason I felt the urge to log in again this afternoon, and another fund now appears nowhere, so that leaves one fund and some cash with HL, two in undetectable limbo and the rest successfully transferred.
It has been sorted out by the end of the week (I'm sure they must be following my posts in this thread). The two limbo funds have magically appeared on Fidelity this morning. One fund and some cash to go.IANAL etc.0 -

By the time the switch is completed (12 weeks now and still no sign of any movement with mine) I fear that inflation will have taken care of most of that.0 -
I've just looked it up - I started my transfer 19th Feb - will they manage to complete it within four months?IANAL etc.0

My new provider mentioned that H&L are carrying out their transfers manually rather automatically like many other providers do. Seems a little odd, depends if this is true, but maybe it's a tactic to smooth out the impact of lost customers.0
