Selling a car without insurance (but with months tax disc)?

You keep arguing over the penalties.
The point being made to hollie.weimeraner was the misconception that parking on private land with tax and without insurance is equivalent to parking on the road with tax and no insurance!
You seem to think its not, and merely a "paperwork "no sorn" offence" (whatever that is).0 -

Indeed.
Different offences, different penalties, different situations.
Sure, both are naughty. But they're very different grades of naughty. One will totally and utterly hammer your insurance premiums for the next five years, whilst the other isn't even endorsable.(whatever that is).
Well, quite.0 -

Yes I am,
With one phone call, one can add car to an existing policy or transfer insurance to new car.
Some buyers may have a drive any car insurance
Others may have drive car not belonging to them and could ask owner to accompany them home and do the deal there. Not ALL insurance policies specify that car must be insured by owner."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Well, yes, obviously by extending the existing policy anyone could do that!
Edit: although you do have a point that keeping a car taxed allows this to happen.
Given the above discussed legal requirement for the owner to have the car insured or have made a SORN, I struggle to believe that there is a circumstance where the above proposition would be legal. But I'll admit I'm not absolutely certain.Others may have drive car not belonging to them and could ask owner to accompany them home and do the deal there. Not ALL insurance policies specify that car must be insured by owner.
I did by the way very deliberately allow for 'extremely unusual' cases where the buyer could drive the car away (i.e. true drive anything policies), but I wanted to make the point that in the vast majority of cases they could not, since 3rd party cover on other vehicles standardly requires them to be otherwise insured first.0 -
I am not here to score points.
As I said not ALL policies.3rd party cover on other vehicles standardly requires them to be otherwise insured first.
My policy certainly does allow me to drive any other vehicle with the owners consent. There is no exclusion stating that said vehicle must be covered by a.n.other policy."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

We see this from your poor advice in #9:It costs you nothing to SORN, do it so to be safe.
I wouldn't cash the TAX. Makes it so much easier for the buyer if car is taxed.....
As has been pointed out, you cannot do this, as when you SORN, the TAX has to be "cashed"!0
