This is a funny old month, I can't seem to find my rhythm...... Another long day at work yesterday so that I can have today off!!

I am looking after my friend's 6 year old daughter, and she is due to arrive any minute. I had her last Wednesday too, and she is adorable but so full of life and questions and needing constant entertaining, in a way that a 15 year old boy has long grown out of, that I was totally exhausted by the time I dropped her off home.

Today we are going to my aunts, who has organised a treasure hunt and then we are off to the beach, the weather is glorious here. I am going to be very MSE and take sandwiches and a flask and I have decided to stop work tomorrow afternoon and take the long Easter Weekend off. I can't wait, I'm in need of a few days chilling.

We have had the opportunity to go down to Snowdonia for the long weekend and to stay in log cabins, with family, but after careful deliberation we decided to save our pennies (£600.00) and holiday from home.:(. I am going to make the best of it though :).

  • Hi Rainbow,

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, I had two work trips in a row in the end!

Your diary is still inspirational - I have all sorts of worries at the moment - but I follow your plans and think, I can try that too. Over Easter I'm planning to make a 'worry list' of all the things that prey on my mind, big or small, and work out a way to tackle them. Baby steps I think, as the bigger issues (medical problems, weight loss, money worries etc) seem overwhelming if I try to look at them head on.

Thank you again and good luck in your quest :) x
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j
  • Morning

Just a quickie to say I admire you saying no to Snowdon. I'm rubbish and would have done it and said to hell with the money! Actually that's a lie. I would have but now I would think about it - such as I'm doing for this weekend even though it's a lot less than £600!!

    Have a good day hon :) x

  • Thanks everyone for your encouragement, I really appreciate it. I am feeling a bit flat and sorry for myself today ...... My supervisor at work is off to Italy tomorrow and was gloating and generally annoying me, as usual, and my sister and family have sent me a text, on their way to Snowdonia, and I wish that we were meeting up with them.

    There are positives though:-

My supervisor is now gone for 2.5 weeks :j:j:rotfl:. It would be such a waste of some breathing space if we were both away at the same time.

I am actually dog tired, and the packing and driving and socialising is actually not what I really need, I just need a few days to switch off and re-charge, with nobody making any demands on me, and I am blooming well going to get that :T.

We have budgeted for a weeks holiday in June and October, so there will be breaks this year, and my first treat, that I am saving for, is a weekend away with DH for our 21st Wedding anniversary in September.

C'est La Vie! I am off to tidy the house and then plan how I can really make the most of the next four days, MSE fashion!! :A

  • Evening!

I think you should enjoy your supervisor being away, have a lovely relaxing weekend and think of the extra treats you can have on your weekend away with OH with the money you saved from this weekend.

    Enjoy it all :) xx

  • That sounds like a plan Sassy, and today I have woken up and my mojo appears to have returned. I am beginning to see how it waxes and wanes throughout the month. A quick summary of where I am at in April:-

    The Good
    Budget - on track
    Savings - on track
£6.00 a day challenge - on track with another £70.00 in the pipeline - Keep going.

    The Bad
Laundry cupboard - creeping up again.
Action - Keep sticking washes on throughout the weekend, they should dry quickly in the sunshine, and by Monday it will be squeaky clean again.

    The Ugly
Weight and exercise - hopeless month, but after losing 3 lb on the takeaway diet, I have put it right back on again, so I am back to where I started at the beginning of the month.

Action - go back to what was working - tracking 1200 calories a day and sticking to my exercise plan.

The Big Incentive – My sister’s 25th Wedding Anniversary is on June 7th, when the whole clan will be gathering for four days of partying, and DH has said he will treat me to a couple of new outfits. I WILL LOSE 7lb in 7 WEEKS, starting TODAY !!!

So my bank holiday MSE treat for today, is a trip to the health club, after a nice lunch at home, in the garden with my men. I will focus on the spa area and 40 lengths of the pool. I have a new kindle book, so that is going to get devoured. Total cost £0.00 :A

Sounds a good plan, and a very enjoyable one too! I'm sure if you stick to your resolve for the exercise/weight loss as well as you have for sorting your finances you'll be a skinny minny in no time.

Have a lovely day & fun Easter break :) x
