If you have a problem seeing the above action from the Government, then you should complain to your MP....

Pollycat, Rosi, Valli, et all....Have you contacted your MP and expressed your distress on the above?
    Don't be so ridiculous!
Why would anyone complain to their MP about the action taken by the Government?

I have, however, advised lots of posters (maybe even some of your AEs) to complain to their MPs if - after reading the information on the website carefully - they still believe they have been misled.

You keep on trotting out these allegations that the posters who disagree with you - in overwhelming numbers - are in the employ of or somehow connected to these websites.

    Pollycat,

On your post you have quoted that you see copycat websites appearing as 5th and 9th entries on the search results.

You have also stated many times that you do not like copycat websites.

Hence my question is, Have you contacted your MP to complain re: this and these copycat links still appearing in Google needs to be taken off entirely?

  • Still there this fine morning, move along the bus now

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en-GB&source=hp&q=passport+renewal&gbv=2&oq=passport+renewal&gs_l=heirloom-hp.12..0l10.11076.18361.0.22261.16.10.0.6.6.0.94.843.10.10.0....0...1ac.1.34.heirloom-hp..0.16.920.2GvsU6sRADA

And this fine lunch time, still at Number 5, is a passport Checking service

Nut new at Number 4, is the Post Office passport Checking Service

    Move along the bus now!

Google still makes money from advertising services that lazy people want!

OK hpuse - although you don't deserve to have your questions answered as you continually refuse to answer questions posed to you by other posters - here is my answer:

No, I have not contacted my MP to complain re this as I have not used any of these websites.
Furthermore - and more importantly - I have not contacted my MP or Trading Standards or ASA or any other body as I do not believe these websites mislead people now.

A friend of mine who says (thinks) she is computer-savvy told me that you now have to pay for EHIC.
    I said 'no you don't'.
She didn't believe me until she revisited the website and realised she'd missed the writ large disclaimer that it wasn't the official website.

I don't believe in a nanny state where people should be protected from their own stupidity or lack of care when purchasing goods or services.

If I did believe that these websites are misleading (and I've told you many, many times that they used to be misleading and were consequently closed down), maybe I would care enough to complain to my MP, report them to Trading Standards or ASA or any other body.

But I don't believe they are misleading now.

So - here is a question for you:
As you seem to believe these websites are misleading, have you reported them to your MP?

Ok, I listen to you Pollycat.

I understand and truly believe your instincts that makes you say here that they are not misleading now. They have got it writ large (as you say) and the customer should have read it.

However, we have to accept the reality, correct?.
The damage has been already done, Pollycat. Government has taken action, along with Google and as a result Google search pages does not display ads of passport copycats advertisements anymore.

If you think they are not misleading anymore, then I listen to you Pollycat, and I have a very kind heart, and that means you think those copycat advertisement should not have been removed.

Who can help or influence? Only our UK govt. Hence I suggested with a patient heart, you to make a complain to your MP saying you strongly believe copycat advertisements must be served on google since they are not misleading anymore.. Hope that makes sense now?

    No, it doesn't make sense.
Pretty much like all the stuff you post.

Where in my post does it say that I think the copycat adverts should not have been removed?

I said that I had not contacted my MP or any other body as I don't believe these websites are misleading now.

What part of 'not misleading now' do you not understand?

If the government believes that - even though the websites have a writ large disclaimer - that they should not be allowed to pay to have their company appear at the top of Google searches, then that is OK with me.
Personally, I don't care one way or another.

It doesn't mean that the websites are misleading.

It doesn't mean that I want the paid-for ads to stay at the top of Google.

Why don't you answer the question I asked you?
As you seem to believe these websites are misleading, have you reported them to your MP?

It's too late to report as I don't see those nasty copycat passport advertisements anymore on Google, Pollycat.
And our govt appears to have started the process of taking ownership of such copycat domains(see the above post#1501.
What do I do Pollycat, please suggest some advise here, I promise I will thank you. :T

    Oh dear me.
hpuse, you seem to have problems in understanding different verb tenses.

I didn't ask if you were going to report 'those nasty copycat passport advertisements' to your MP.

    I asked if you had.
    Had.
    That's past tense.

I don't know what sort of advise (sic) you're looking for, hpuse.

I don't need you to thank me.
I don't seem to have the strange obsession with being thanked that you obviously have.

Was that not the webpage that most people agreed was misleading due to how similar it was to the official site?
