Thank you RuthnJasper.
That sentence pretty much describes the view of many of the posters on here.
It is probably fair to say that that is the view of all the posters Wantmemoney is describing when he says:
Unfortunately, Wantmemoney has now branded you, along with the rest of us, as working in this industry.
Yeah... sigh... Obviously, if we don't agree with him, we are all, therefore, a part of some sinister conspiracy; with a myriad of hidden motives and agendas. I only wish I was that interesting in real life...0 -

TBH, RuthnJasper, I wish I had as many jobs as people have accused me of having on various forums.
I would be mega-rich. :rotfl:0 -
Thank God I found this thread!
Yesterday I used a tax website, filled in loads of information and it has cost me over £600. I feel truly ripped off and gutted. How can these shysters be allowed to get away with this, it is absolutely immoral.
Oh ..... wait a minute......
It was the HMRC site, and the money was for the tax my husband owes for 2012/2013 self assessment0 -
/\/\/\ nice.
I guess we can sum this whole thread up with the following wise Latin statement...
Caveat emptorThe best thing you can do at work is join a Trade Union.

I'm no fan of companies that rely on peoples stupidity to turn a profit but the reality is that there are a lot of stupid people in the world, if there weren't these companies would soon go out of business.0

Always read the SMALL print, rather than just the bells and whistles and shiny promises on the front cover. Would you buy a house just because it looks nice on the outside without looking inside and then simply sue the Estate Agent for misrepresentation.
I've never used any of these sites, though I've seen them (and I don't work for any of them either) - but I would certainly not hand over £70-odd without reading exactly what my money will and will not get me.
There is a bunch of folks here thinking "reading" is eveything and the world ends before a consumer if he or she fail to read t&c's before clicking. Some others simply exist to applaud such postings saying those companies are not doing anything illegal.
Irony is, those very same folks fail to "read" the title of this thread.
Repeated 3 times so far in this thread that its not about "reading" before it purchasing.
This thread is all about a consumers "rights" if they think got ripped-off by a company. If people do not have anything to contribute they should simply learn to shut up.0 -

You'd best keep quiet then.0 -

in the interest of honesty and accuracy and show your not just lying to cause trouble could you link to my post and quote the part where you claim I claimed RuthnJasper 'as working in this industry'.
What do you mean by 'premature with my accusation'
and
but now that RuthnJasper has clearly stated their view...0 -

These posters are all using the exact same age old con to defend these rip-off copycat sites that con men (and worse) have always used.
Please answer this question below:Are you saying that you think any of the posters on this thread are connected with this 'rip-off' industry (your words)?
Wealdroam has also asked you who you were talking about - but you've not answered either of us.
There's a nasty insinuation in your comment, I do hope you are not implying that I am connected to in any way or employed by any of these companies.0 -
To all the posters who breath and expel the "dodgy trade oxygen" in these forums,
Stay away if you do not have anything to contribute, and gentle reminder again : this thread is an attempt to help a consumer who thinks he or she got ripped-off as a result of failing to read t&c's.
FSS, stop repeating that tired and old "read what you buy" statement. It is highly irrelevant to the context.
Last and least, we don't need people with 17 years of banking dispute experience recommending people to collect email souvenirs....0
