Under guarantee but shop has closed down

We bought a mattress from a local bed store 4 years ago. It wasn't cheap and came with a 5 year guarantee. Over the last 6 months the memory foam topper has begun to tear and sag. The company no longer exists and we have googled the mattress name but haven't been able to find it. Is there any way of claiming on the guarantee or are we going to have to buy a new mattress? Any advise on this would be fantastic. Thank you

You may be lucky and try and contact the manufacturer of the mattress, they may honor the guarantee. But doubtful.
But normally the guarantee is with the retailer, so no shop, sorry no guarantee.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0 -
How did you pay for the mattress?
How much did you pay?
If you paid over £100 by credit card (some other forms of credit are also covered), then the card issuer is equally responsible for performance of the contract.
The contract includes that guarantee.
Have a read of MSE's Section 75 Refunds article for details.0 -

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Remember any claim you have will be discounted by 4+ years of performance, so at best you'd probably look at 20%.
Depending on who the guarantee was from (shop or manufacturer) you may have to work hard to get anything, depends if it's worth it for 20%0 -
Thanks for your replys. We paid £870 for the base and mattress with a debit card. The label on the mattress says pocket response collection tranquil 1000. The receipt just states tranquil 1000. We've googled it and it doesn't come back with anything. the mattress label says five year guarantee on it.0

£870 equals about £370 for the base and £500 for the mattress, at best if you can find someone to pay up you may get £100, if you are extremely lucky. Probably best to give it up and buy a new mattress.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
