what did your agreement say you had to do and what did you tell them you did?

I'm not sure what proof you think they can show you, if they say the sanction is for not looking enough, what proof can they provide.

If they say you didn't apply for a job that was on the direct gov site and in your agreement it says you have to search on that site, as mine does, then yes they would have to show the job you didn't apply for, but that would be quite easy to do, as I doubt many people, me included applies for all the jobs on there.

They use this type of thing to sanction people, as it's very hard to appeal against.

What you need to do is find out what it is they have said you haven't done, and you need to provide proof you have do it.

If they say you haven't looked enough then that's easier to fight, as you can list a whole load of stuff you did and they would not be able to say you didn't do it, like walk around the shops handing out CVs, sending CVs to companies but if they say it's a job they know is there and you didn't apply for it, then that's much harder to deal with, first see if they is any reason why you can not have done that job, maybe the travel costs were too much so you would have been worse off, then you don't have to apply, or you do not have what the job is asking for, eg, 2 years experience , or it's self employed etc etc

Asking them to prove something is not really going to help you, it's up to you to prove you have done what they have asked, just provide loads and loads of evidence.

Then if you do get sanctioned, appeal straigh away as it goes to someone else to hear the appeal and people do win them and also apply for a hardship payment straight away too, first look for the conditions you need to meet to get a hardship payment, believe it or not but saying you have no money for food is not enough on it's own  so check you tick all the boxes when you fill in the form.

Also email and pester your MP so they know this !!!! is going on, they probably won't help much if it's a tory but at least they can not close theor eyes to it, remember to include your full name and address in any email to your MP or they can not reply to you.

    Good luck

You mean like you applied for 10 jobs and they say there were a lot more jobs you could have applied for?

To sanction you they would have surely had to provide this info to the person who makes that decision?

You can I would have thought ask for copies of the jobs they say you could have applied for.

I think it is disgusting to have to ask for this evidence!!

Like AP007 says if you applied for 10 jobs and they are saying there were 15 you could have applied for, I would have thought they should automatically tell you want the other 5 were to allow you to state why you did not apply for them and then make their decision based on if they believe your reasons are valid or not.

Yes I would be asking for the list of the ones they said you should have applied for and then going back with reasons why you did not do so an let them make a decision based on that.

Since when did you have to put down more jobs than was required by your agreement. I only ever put 3 jobs down a week.

This is just one side of the story...

Not all agreements state the number of jobs you need to apply for, my doesn't. I just have to apply for all suitable jobs.

The OP says they say she didn't look for enough jobs. Maybe she only applied for 2 that week when her agreement said 3. Maybe she only applied for 2 because that's all she could find. But they are saying that they found others.

    Very limited info, I agree.
