The extremely dreaded Atos Assessment
Comments

Also, if I remember correctly, the Employment Tribunals weren't allowed to by law, pass their own opinions on their observations on the day when finding a claimant disabled under the relevant Act. There is case law on this. I'm therefore not sure why this is widely done in Atos assessment centres up and down the country especially when people's livelihoods are at stake.0

Here is a link to that case report if anyone is interested:

Observe me only if you are qualified to do so is what I say. Jumping to false conclusions on ignorant observations does no justice to anyone.
It seems that if one sends them organised information they use that against you as 'being able to organise'. I didn't send them a report along with my form and maybe that was a bad move especially as I have plenty of them that we used in Employment Tribunal battles against potential employers because of disability discrimination some time ago.
There's another dubious government system if you ask me. To make matters worse, they are hitting ET claimants hard financially these days as a better service to the 'taxpayer'...
Should I take a report or two with me on the day?
You could take a report with you, but they may not read it, some do, some don't, so just tell them HOW your disability affects you, and how it would be difficult to actually hold down a job with it etc.,- but, hang onto the reports, and send copies in if you need to request a Mandatory Consideration or appeal. You could give the assessor some copies, and ask them to be put into your file, for sending to the DWP decision maker.
They only observe in a general sense. For example, if you had put on the form that you can only walk a couple of yards, use a wheelchair, or whatever, and then they observed you speeding up the road, on your feet, they might think you are telling fibs.
They have, in truth, never held being organised against me - they cannot argue with medical evidence that is verified.
Good luck with it.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Cheers Lin ol' chap. Fingers crossed it goes as planned on Wednesday.0

Well, let us know - hopefully it will all go well.
Just keep calm, and tell them all your difficulties. Take a friend for support if you can, as they can take notes and watch everything is being done properly.

Thanks Lin - will do.
I've just received a letter through the post saying that they will be rescheduling my appointment for the 4th February. This is probably due to me requesting the assessment be recorded.
Bit of a shame as I was hoping to get it over with soon.0 -
Oh well, if it means you will get a formal recording, at least you know the assessor will abide by all the rules, so might be best for you.
If you want to send any copies of your report in, provided you do it quickly, use a tracked delivery, and mark all sheets with your details, enclosing a covering letter, you also have time to do that now as well.

Indeed.
Is it best not to hand a copy of the report to the assessor on the day?0 -
I had my assessment last Saturday and today got a letter saying I have Limited Capacity for work and am in support group for 1 year. I took with me the last 3 months appointment letters and a letter from my consultant she had sent to my GP detailing future issues.
I would just be honest answering their questions. My assessor was nice, I felt she understood my position.0
