Happy Easter! :easter_os
Lovely cakes, SpringDreams, did you make them yourself?
It's an absolutely gorgeous morning here. I got out early and did a bit of weeding and planting in my little front garden. Yesterday, there was a lovely farmers market on in my wee town, and I succumbed to some unusual (original) tulips, and another plant I can't spell or pronounce. I love plants you can't get in standard garden centres. And the service/chat about the plants was also lovely.
My neighbour has given me a small home made Easter cupcake, and I have given my other neighbour some of the girls' eggs. I think Easter is a much nicer version of Christmas...easy, relaxed, no eggspectations (sorry, couldn't resist!) :rotfl:
Coco-Chicken was showing signs of broodiness yesterday, so I'm going to take the sin bin with me this morning, but am hoping she will have snapped out of it...If not, she will need to be separated for a few hours to break her need to nest constantly.
I watched Philomena last night - excellent film, really lovely understated acting from both Steve C00gan and Jud1 Dench, and a story that had me alternating between disbelief at the cruelty of the nuns and respect for the way the lady handled her misfortune. Thanks for the recommendation, Mothernerd.
Enjoy your Sunday's, Everyone.

Morning everyone, happy Easter
The weather is gorgeous today, I can't believe I'll be spending all afternoon in a meeting inside! Oh well, at least there will be scones and cake.
To make up for that, I forced myself out for a walk this morning...was full of good intentions but really lazy and in danger of doing nothing. So I went along the beach, not my favourite, just the nearest, that's the best I could manage
It was lovely, all blue sky and waves and seagulls. I thought the beach looked busy, but it was fine once I was down there...just had to avoid all the couples who seem incapable of walking in a straight line without holding hands to keep each other upright...I jest of course
One poor woman was in the sea up to her waist with her jeans on, trying to retrieve something that had been thrown in by accident...the north sea in April, it would be freezing
She did say it was cold when I spoke to her. I've noticed recently that if I speak to a couple, I usually get a one line answer, and that's it, but if I speak to a person on their own they are more willing to chat. It's as if people who are with someone else don't feel the need to talk to an extra person? Or maybe the other way round?
Did anyone see Corrie the other night? One of the female characters said she thought it was tragic to see a woman dining alone!!!
mothernerd did you go to the family gathering? Was it ok?
JKS when do your children come home?

No LB I didn't - I'm not a baker. Found it on the interweb and liked the look of them. I'd be quite happy to eat them
The alphabet thread are looking for an X to participate in their 50th round - it is a special one and even Martin has posted claiming the M spot:

I think I'll have to change my name to something beginning with X Springdreams, as I don't stand a chance, I do look, but always miss the B! Cakes look lovely, if I made them they'd look like an octopus on drugs!
Weather nice here, but apart from checking on bunns, don't have the energy to do anything, as have a virus thingy...think I'm okish until I move.
Ellie,:mad: at corrie, hope they balanced it out with another characters response!0 -
Just had a quick squiz at the alphabetty thread - what a hoot!:rotfl:
And they were stuck on L for ages in mid March...I thought L would be grabbed so quickly...might have to keep an eye on that. What do you win??

Ellie,:mad: at corrie, hope they balanced it out with another characters response!
No, I don't think they did, just let it pass.
The sun is STILL shining
Been watching drama outside my windows. Someone broke their leg on the beach and the RAF helicopter was called to take them to hospital...because the ambulance was 90 minutes away.
I don't know if that's because there is a shortage of ambulances in this area, or if they were just really busy.
It's impressive seeing the helicopter land in a small space.
Hopefully the injured person will be okay.
I haven't eaten my choc easter bunny, I suspect it will be melting inside his golden wrapper..he looks too happy smiling away on my mantelpiece to eat (yet)
New series of Vera on TV tonight, so that's my evening planned.

Oh fab, Ellie, I love Vera...was about to be fed up as nothing worth watching...just watching Montalbanos latest episode...
We've had air ambulances land on the playing field just down the road, like you say, very impressive...and very noisy.0 -
Good evening - hope you have all had a good Easter Sunday :easter_ba0

I did go to mum's partner's house. Wasn't as bad as I was dreading, baby woke up grumpy and her sister was a bit clingy as well so their mother took them home but the 26yo (going on 6) deserved the most aggravating award. I did tell him I didn't believe in violence but was prepared to make an exception for him. Trouble is, he is one of those people who thinks he is entertaining and adorable even when nearly everyone (mum is a male apologist, all men are wonderful despite all evidence to the contrary) is grinding their teeth at his antics.
He got sent home at the same time as the children left, leaving me, mum (when she came back from church) and his fiancee to watch Philomena in peace (mum's partner slept). Think fiancee had had enough as she volunteered to take both dogs home with her - one belongs to their aunt but mostly lives with the other twin. Aggravating one had asked not to have both dogs as they both end up in the bed , so think it was payback for his behaviour. DS3 had phoned to ask if I would come home for 6pm and he would order takeaway then, so I was spared tea.
Lunch was vegetable lasagne which wasn't great. The 5yo left some of hers and the baby (2 on Tuesday) refused to eat more than a couple of mouthfuls and usually she wolfs everything. I was offered the 5yo's leftovers and really couldn't manage more than the plateful I had had (didn't actually say how disgusting it was - mum uses jars of processed tomato sauce and packet cheese sauce). Usually I eat any extra veg going. Baby then fell asleep and luckily went home before tea, as the poor thing was going to be given the rest of her unfinished dinner. Was grateful for DS3's phone call as I suspect I would have been given the remains if I had stayed. I sound really ungrateful but it just wasn't nice.
If mum and I do end up living together, I am in charge of the kitchen. She is a good baker (trained as a confectioner) but has only learned to cook since we all left home and relies heavily on convenience processed food and has obviously never read a food label in her life. I usually eat what I am given and hope healthy eating the rest of the week (plus eating as much salad or as many veg as available at their house) will get me through her idea of what is suitable for a diabetic (meal she gave me a couple of weeks ago had six types of sugar in it). Her partner is diabetic but expects his pills to do everything and sulks at any attempts to stop him eating unhealthily and now with his Alzheimer's he puts all the veg to one side of his plate and leaves them.
Any way since getting home I have slothed about reading. Cannot get started on anything and have only been as far as the library for yet more books (well they are shut today and tomorrow). Takeaways aren't normal for me (DS3 buys them for himself, but I only get a chip or sometimes a slice of pizza). One of my monthly challenges let us have one for March and the local Indian does a very good deal, but it is cheaper Monday to Thursday. Wanted it last weekend (well I've wanted it since January) made myself wait through the weekend to get it at the super cheap rate and then the internet went out. Should have been fixed by Thursday evening so I had given DS3 the go-ahead to order and then the internet was out till 3am. DS3 managed to get us the 20% off for Easter on top of the normal weekend offer (shouldn't have had both but the wording was ambiguous so they let him have it - three years of business came in useful for something) so it was nearly the same as it would have cost on Thursday. I eat the starter with a large salad and then halve the curry to make two further meals so it's done most of the weekend.
Took out one of the packs of lamb I cooked and froze a couple of weeks ago (saw a ys leg of fresh lamb going cheaper than the frozen half legs and thought that'll do us) and have had a sandwich (with mayo, mustard, ys baby spinach leaves, ys spring onions) and enough for a couple more. Have also been having sandwiches with chilli hummous on ( I had 10 x 10p salad ys bargains including this, coleslaw, the aforementioned items, two bulbs of fennel and a bag of kale which I've been eating with curry on top - love spring greens with curry).
Loved hearing all your adventures. I am going to try walking further this week and bringing some of the larger plant pots back from the other house - last week's wild weather made even going to the library hazardous, had to stop a couple of times with my skirt flapping like a sail and unable to move either leg forward, just keeping my balance until the wind dropped.
Hope you all have a good day tomorrow. I remember when I had multiple jobs, I knew it was time to cut back if you spent all bank holidays sleeping. When I started my college course I was continually apologising for falling asleep, my body thought if I was sitting down work was over. Also once fell asleep in the middle of an exercise class (standing up at the time, they were used to me snoring through the meditation/ rest period). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
