    Krap..!!!!!

Asbo-cat is on ruddy roof, got out of bedroom window. Wandering around on the tiles in the sun....!!....lol.

Edit.....lol....just had a face at the window..she couldn't get back in so i've had to go out and grab her.

    All back to normal.......phew!

    Edit again...well done MB dd.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I know, you could order for the two....imaginary friend doesn't turn up...you ask for other meal to be boxed...bingo....tomorrows tea sorted. If i'm going to a restaurant and the tables for two are irritatingly small, I book for 4 and pretend the other two haven't turned up.....i hate being crushed onto a table.

Oh I'm going to give this a try when I have the time to go for a 2-4-1 pub meal - will report back. I'm also going to pinch your idea & start writing cryptic notes in a notebook when eating out. That should worry them into providing a better service!

def agree re single room supplements, what makes me laugh if your going all inclusive then your saving the hotel some money as there technically saving money. I can understand a single person in a twin or double room, as they would be losing money on the drinks and food. What does really annoy me is when you pay a single room supplement and your in a single room, they can't fit 2 people in there.

Yep, that has to be one of the most annoying things about single rooms & supplements

Well done on your very productive day - it was exhausting to read!
Well....that's got me wondering if any reporters (or anyone who knows a reporter they could persuade) might like to do one of those "consumer test" articles trying out going into a restaurant on their own for a meal and seeing what happens. I think it would be beneficial if a national newspaper were to send in two households (a single person one and a couple one) into the same restaurant on the same evening and see if there was a different reception given to those "households".

As I said, there are millions of us out there and we sometimes like our meals cooked for us and served up with all the "trimmings" the same as anyone else...

Families and couples get special treatment in places often (eg reduced prices each) on the one hand, but we cant even get basic treatment (ie the service we require) at the standard price sometimes. Something strikes me as rather unfair here...

That would be really interesting research, wouldn't it? I think they'd find that we're worse off service wise :(.

Nicki - well done on the DIY front. I have a few days just with my DD (as DS is away) & I can just imagine the shock if I suggested we did DIY - she's imagining that we'll be shopping & eating out every day, so I might wind her up a bit! Mind you, we need to decontaminate her bedroom & that could take some time :rotfl:

MB - great news about your DD's results :T

I don't do any classes/clubs myself, but I have noticed that a few things such as exercise classes also seem to run only during term time. Whether this is because the instructors are parents I don't know. I am grateful that most of the kids stuff is term time only though - I need the break from making sure the correct child is in the correct place at the correct time! And I couldn't afford for them to do everything if I had to pay all year round.

I think if I didn't have kids though it would probably annoy me. MSTM - could you or other members find an alternative place to meet during the holidays to continue the club for at least some of the members? I guess it depends on what kind of club it is, & I imagine there would also be potential problems with collecting subs, insurance etc. so it may become a real PITA.

Lessonlearned - I like the sound of your car-buying friend! I hope the funeral goes "well" IYKWIM - will be thinking of you.

Anyone have any idea how deep Buddleia roots go? I've had a large one growing out of my patio where there is some cement missing from between the slabs - it's been getting bigger & is now taller than me & very busy. It would be lovely if it wasn't for its location, but as its always covered in butterflies & bees I'm keeping it going (counted 30'ish small tortoiseshells on it today :T). But I'm a little worried about how much work its going to be when I finally have to cut it down....

Also managed to defrost my freezer today - an embarrassing amount of chicken thighs later I have a list of what is in there :j. The plan is to tick off stuff as I use it (where is the roll eyes smilie when I need it?) so I should be more organised - this is OS after all.....

I wonder how long my plan will last :rotfl:
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

  • :jJust wanted to share this - free cinema ticket on Sundays if you buy certain chocolates (details here) & some of these chocs are on offer at MrTs for £1/small pack. I now have a free ticket & oodles of chocs for £4.

Will probably go back & get another 4 bags tomorrow for another free ticket.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

I can offer conveniently-located outdoor space and did so for one thing, but maybes people opted for an indoor space instead because we do seem to have rather a lot of a certain commodity here in Wales aka rain:rotfl:. As far as I've noticed to date, in this sort of area people tend to be pretty scattered-around and not all of us have cars (me for instance) and the bus service is dire (about once an hour usually and nothing on evenings and Sundays). In this area many of the people attending regular activities are English retiree incomers and we tend to divide between reasonably comfortably-off and maybe with enough space at home on the one hand and English hippy incomers (poverty-stricken and possibly living in a caravan) on the other hand. I'm somewhere in the middle between those 2 categories:rotfl:

Worth keeping an eye/ear open to see what the possibilities are of course and see if anyone is willing to.

Wondering about the possibilities of a marquee up over part of my garden now....:rotfl:

    BUDDLEIA ROOTS
A very quick google revealed 30-40 cm deep and may spread a bit horizontally. I would suspect it equals some of your patio slabs having to come up to get at horizontal root growth.

Anyone have any idea how deep Buddleia roots go?

I not sure about the roots, but buddleias can get really big if you don't keep them under control.
They're really easy to grow your own by taking hardwood cuttings.
next month cut some nice stems about 9 -12 inches long, strip off most of the leaves, and stick about a third of the stem in the ground. By next spring a lot of them will have rooted, and then you can choose exactly where you want them to grow.

I'm sure there are better instructions than mine online, but I promise it's easy :)

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Ooo, my mum has a budleia, I might pinch some and do this as love flutterbys.

I seem to remember my mum having to get one dug out by a professional as the roots were huge.

Budleia seed themselves everywhere...I have various young 'uns growing in various pots, not deliberately planted. You can see them growing in very barren places, through pavements, etc...

Sad news, an older lady died last night on the main road yards from my door, I had been talking to her minutes before. Thankfully I didn't see or hear anything, not sure why as there were emergency vehicles for 6 hours. I vaguely remember a screetch of tyres but not sure if it was last night or not now, it happens so often, but as I didn't hear a bang thought it was a narrow miss.

Then, I've been told client's cat died, awful vets in my town misdiagnosed/didn't diagnose and by the time they went to another vet it was too late.

Congratulations to MB's daughter and to MB, :T

Yippee! It's the weekend again. :j

MB Many congratulations to your daughter :T

I agree with Mum2One re single supplements. If a room only has a single bed then it should be half the price of a double or twin room. When I go on holiday with my mum & dad we try to find a twin room and a single room but as the cost of the single room is so excessive we have ended up going self catering instead.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

byatt - Sorry about the lady xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • MummyBobble, many congratulations to your talented daughter.

JustKeepSwimming, buddleia turn into trees if they are allowed to. I am currently trying to get rid of one growing in the wrong place which was taken down to the ground, but it keeps rejuvenating itself!

Byatt, sorry to hear about the two deaths nearby - hope you are not too shocked/upset by either.
