No-one knows what life will hold, there's a cliche about living in the momemt and you know it's true...all the wondering and thinking what am I missing out on, stops you from living now, and more importantly enjoying what you have now.

    QUOTE]

No, thinking of other things/possibilities/options, doesn't stop you living now or not enjoying what you have. Or not necessarily.

I enjoy what I have and I've worked bl00dy hard to achieve it. NONE of it has been handed to me by anyone.

But I can't help thinking there's a bit more to life then being in my PJs at 6.30 on a Saturday night after yet another day full of chores, and yet another week full of shoite work.

Humankind have only thrived because they've questioned the status quo.

Just popping in to say Hi before I fly off to the cutting edge of psychiatry.....?!....not.

Re: being tied to a house.

Thing is....i love just pottering around my house, and being able to do that, as am naturally quite a lardarze I think, and I like to have a base, or 'nest' to think of as mine.

However...also love the idea of just upping off and going travelling for a while. i'm not sure I could sell up lock stock and barrel to do it, as would always want my little place to come back to. It is something I will certainly look at once I retire, and will look at it if I have no job come next year even if it's just for a month at a time...or whatever is workable around Asbo-cat. It's also making me re think the whole getting a dog thing at the moment. I had always said I would get another one as soon as not working or doing shorter shifts...but not so sure right now.

I think a few of us on here are at thought provoking stages of our life, and questioning things somewhat. Maybe it's a sign of the times now with so much uncertainty....or maybe my hormones...lol...who knows.

I have two money trees, one produces flowers which is meant to be rare...and lucky. No money as yet, I fear it may be a myth.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of your weekend.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Very true about ones persons rut being another's dream.

It would help me if i ever really know what my dream is...it keeps changing, especially at the moment, and which i'm sure is down to job insecurity too.

If I win the lottery...I will share Byatt don't worry. I was watching a house prog this afternoon, people buying in Florida.....nice big places for 70ish K.....i was shocked how cheap they were, as assumed they would be Way more than that.

  • I also agree that "one persons rut is another persons dream". I had to wait so long (too darn long) to be able to buy a house in the first place. It was years late....

So, to me personally, my home is a base to work out from and to retreat to and its good to know its secure (and that's on the basis of my rental days were back before all the 6 month contracts, fees to find places, etc, etc that are there these days from what I read). I can come in, shut the door and put my feet up and no-one can say I don't have the right to...

I can do what I please to my own house and garden (provided, of course, I don't unreasonably impinge on other people in the process). I have a neighbour who would thoroughly disagree that I'm entitled to make all my own decisions on that, but I just mentally shrug them off and remember that I am indeed entitled to do so and, if I want to paint the place in skyblue pink with polka dots then I shall do so.

It is the security basically of owning your own front door that is the thing.

Having said that, there is obviously a balance between just existing (no matter how comfortably and securely) and having reason and purpose to living and some enjoyment from it and it is a quest to do so.

So...yep...I can see both sides here.

There are a *lot* of sink holes in Florida, Calico...a lot...:eek: So a dream can turn into a nightmare.

LB, I hope I didn't suggest that your life had been handed to you on a plate.

I do feel I'm at a different stage of life right now, the retirement that never happened, changes in my body and a feeling that time is running away with me. I feel less like being away from my home than I ever did before. Even a few days has me pining for My Boy cat and my own little, very boring life. I think changes come about in different decades, and what those looming towards their late 40's early 50's are feel is very different from those of us in our late 50's to early 60's...and so on.

And if you feel that something is missing by being in your PJ's at 6.30 on a saturday night, then something needs to be done...and only you can know what that is.

Anyway, I'm close to tears right now, and not sure why. Feel like a swan all calm on the surface and paddling like fury underneath.

I've been researching which alcoholic beverages are good for increasing oestrogen levels, seems it's red wine, beer and bourbon!
