    Howdie,

RE: Wills...??, if that's what you mean MTSTM...one of the main things to do to is sort out percentages you want for people. specific amounts make things complicated and can make things string along for quite a while, if it's done in percentages everything is done far quicker.

Or...if it's more than one property, split them between whoever if you can...again it makes it simpler if a person can inherit a property individually rather than splitting it all up etc....so i'm told.

Looking after animals if you have them...and who you want to do what.

Who you want to sort your house contents out.

If you want to pick your own funeral music....etc etc.

Then the living Will...as to who you trust to either keep you going, where you would want to be, and what you would like/dislike.....or more importantly...who you trust to switch you off if that's what's needed.

Hope that's what you mean and I haven't got the wrong end of the stick again and now being all morbid...!!

    On a lighter note.....

Jesus ruddy christ....any of you lot put up blackout liners for curtains...???

I swear to god I have just lost half a stone and think pole may break as they are SO heavy..!. They weren't cheap so i'm assuming are good ones...but the weight of them i'd flipping ridiculous, and i'm not weak. Admittedly I did get 90 x 90 size...as wanted to make sure that no more sunlight will ever hit my eyes unless I invite it.

I have just put up the IRON curtain i'm sure...and i've only done one side and now need a rest.

Electrician hasn't phoned...sacked......will have to find another.

EDIT.....man I cupboard does everything..he is a silent genius that can do anything we require. That is the whole point of him......lol.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Lol....only one one curtain so far. Going to puff on e-cig, have a coffee, do 300 press-ups then go in for the other side.

    Another quick thought...

For anyone who has kiddies on this thread.

Make them become electricians or plumbers....A) they will make a mint if they run their business properly...B) you don't have to wait for people as you will have one in the family.

Seriously though they are (and have been for a long time) always dead busy as not enough people in these trades , once UNI became over popular the trades took a massive dive (so my dad said and I think he's right, which was weird for a UNI person himself ! ). If I had my time again i'd have thought about plumbing.....or a dominatrix....as it would suit when in a bad mood due to lack of said plumbers and electricians.

De-lurking to say that March is Free Will Month. See Martin's reminder at the side of the page.
  • After you've got your will and your living will done, here's something else to consider if you're a home owner.

The Land Registry has just started up a new anti-fraud scheme, intended to make life difficult for fraudsters who literally steal people's houses - usually by setting up a fake ID as the current owner, and then transferring the property into their own real name.

The new scheme lets you register your e-mail address, and if anyone contacts the Land Registry and asks for a copy of your deeds etc., you will get an auto-generated e-mail telling you that this has happened. The e-mail will also tell you who to contact at the Land Registry.

It's a very simple straightforward process to register (it took me five minutes max), and the service is free. www.landregistry.gov.uk

    Good Grief! :(

Maybe we should all just choose a house we fancy and can't afford, and transfer it into our own name? How on earth is that possible?

    Thanks for the heads up!

I'd always assumed that if I had wanted/had children that they would have gone to University and then gone on to have a career. But that was back in the days of University grants and before the days of Everyone and Their Dog going to university. For some years now I've been surprised to find that I would have been hoping they were "practically"-minded and wondering if I could try and gently steer them towards being plumbers/electricians/carpenters. I would worry about them avoiding the health hazards associated with jobs like that and how I could steer them into "staying safe" whilst doing that type of job. On the other hand, the type of career I would be hoping they would have gone in for includes competitiveness/"heart attack territory"/backstabbing/etc and having to work your way towards the self-employed territory I tend to think is the best bet these days. Whereas (at least in my new area) they all tend to be "Right mate/how are you mate?/borrow your tools mate?" attitude towards each other and friendly with each other from what I can make out.

I always used to believe it was the best bet to be an employee, but in this day and age of no job security/zero hours contracts/etc then I tend to think self-employment in something suitable is a better way to go.

End result being I'd probably have been at least as happy/possibly happier to hear "I'm going to be a plumber/electrician mum" as I would have formerly to hear "I'm going to be a solicitor/teacher/administrator".

  • JKS son had a fainting fit...hope all ok now? Must have been frightening! :(

He's all fine now thanks, quite enjoyed his 2 days at home apart from the vomiting bits.

I've just had 2 days off too (& at least I'm getting paid for these 2 days) with the bug - I haven't enjoyed it quite so much as he hasn't waited on me hand & foot.... to be fair he is only 11.

... Physically I feel very well so it does seem a little odd that I'm deemed unsuited to go back to work for a couple of weeks at least. I guess the issue is that things could still go potentially very wrong (infection, etc.) so caution has to be exercised in the early stages..... I have to avoid anything too strenuous (when my eye gives me a warning twinge) but stuff like doing the dishes and the laundry, etc. don't fall into that category!

Don't know if it's the after-effects of the GA but I feel generally very tired the last couple of days despite getting a lot more sleep than I usually do. So off now to do something else with my evening before turning in.

Take it easy Grousescot - you need time off to recover!

:rotfl: at the dominatrix - never thought of that as a stress buster but I guess it could work.

I'll certainly be encouraging my 2 to go into a trades-type job but so far neither has much idea of what they want to do. My DD is quite creative & may do something with textiles, my son wants to be a zoo keeper (remember wanting to do that when I was young).

Hope those coping with home renovations are coping OK...
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Not a bad start to the day. Got up, DD and DS up and ready for school, me ready for work (because I thought it was Thursday). Only realised while on route to school that it was in fact Wednesday and I don't work on a Wednesday :j :rotfl:

So, two loads in and out of the washing machine and soup made for tea tonight. Just trying to find something else to do next to avoid cleaning out the kitten's litter tray... Then tea and cake with a friend this afternoon.

    Have a good day :D
