The light must do what its meant to. No light and no pass.
Incorrect information.
There is no failure item for an airbag light not illuminating as has been posted in the post above.
It would be better investigated as to the fault, but if the light doe not illuminate, it will not fail for this.
This is the correct informationIf it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -

You would have to remove the speedo cluster, then either pull the bulb or if its an led and part of the printed circuit board, cut the track on the board.
I would recommend getting the codes read first though, as more than likely a pretensioner fault underneath one of the seats and could be needing no more than the multiplugs cut of and wires soldered/heatshrunk together, then clearing codes down.
If it turns out to be something more expensive to sort like a clockspring, then possibly look at other options. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot the problem?Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. Yes, you would need to get the car plugged into a scan tool to be able to find out what has brought the malfunction light on.Chickabiddybex wrote: »Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot the problem?
A trip to a local garage I'm afraid, as not aware of any cheap code readers that will allow access to srs system as only use advanced kit.If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.0 -
After reading all the replies! I would suggest that you get the fault checked out before removing any bulbs to not highlight any faults with your car!
A diagnostic check will tell you where the fault is, and you can then determine a cost for repair! You are not doing yourself or others any favors if your airbags or belts fail in a collision!;)0 -
i used one of these to find an airbag fault on a 2004 focus also found an airbag fault on a 2002 fiesta, plugs into a laptop, this might not be the cheapest one on ebay , but ive just used it as an example of what they are.

Given the pre-tensioner and Airbag is what separates your face from the windscreen at what ever speed you were going, then I would say get it fixed rather than just pull the bulb.
You might live longer.Be happy...;)0 -
The thing is I suspect it is not an actual fault with the pretensioner but the light is illuminating incorrectly. However, I'll see if I can get someone to take a look at it.Hi. The airbag won't stop you from hitting the screen, but it will stop you from head butting the steering wheel on initial impact (when used in conjunction with a seat belt).spacey2012 wrote: »Given the pre-tensioner and Airbag is what separates your face from the windscreen at what ever speed you were going, then I would say get it fixed rather than just pull the bulb.

The SRS warning light does not illuminate incorrectly, it illuminates to indicate there is a fault somewhere within the system.
As others have said, you can either get the fault fixed properly or remove the SRS warning lamp from the dashboard.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0
