Thanks PrincessLou, as soon as I see my online balance reduced, I will update my signature. And yes your right. Each 10k is a great psychological barrier.

Although the rest of the year will probably only be our £450.

  • Pleased to see my mortgage account balance has been updated and we now owe just over £89K.

Also worked out that based on what we bought the house for, we are on 76.7% LTV. Based on a conservative estimate of what our house is worth, we are on 71.2% LTV :D

  • Mortgage paperwork has just come through thanks to Mr post man. A little gutted as my £2K only knocked off 11 months and I was hoping for a little more. Anyone else feel like that after overpaying? I don't want to sound ungrateful because I know I have saved loads in interest and as it stands I will be 49 when the mortgage will be done.

  • Work out what your daily interest is then multiply that by the 11 months it knocked off. Thats sure to make you feel a whole lot better! :)

    Fantastic progress on the overpayments!

  • Wow its been a while since I was last on here, however that does not mean that my mortgage free dreams have stopped or my master plan for trifle towers. As you can see from my signature, we are under £50k and under010 years left. Also what's changes is that I now have a 3.5  year old (going on 13 😀) and I've got number 2 growing. All this has meant that we are selling our house and onto bigger and brighter things. The house we're in the process of buying an additional £169,000!!! Whilst it's not my dream house in the country it is plenty big enough to have number 2 (and number 3 if I can pursuade the hubby). It also backs onto the corner of a school rugby pitch so I don't feel overlooked and get some green if that makes sense. The only downside is that we're stretching ourselves (but not overstretched) and with maternity leave, we're not going to be in a position to overpay initially. But the plan will be to start overpaying 2-3 years down the line when nursery fees reduce etc. That being said, if can can manage something then we will. It will be hard for me as I see overpaying as a necessity not as an option of that makes sense.
