  • Thank you luckyinlife, it's was a good one. Shame they're not all like that.

Looked online and can see that the overpayment has been applied and we are down to just over £93,600. Just waiting for the paperwork and then I can update my signature.

Just tucked hubby into bed as he's not feeling very well (left work early as he wasn't feeling well). Ah well at least I get to watch what I want on the tv for the rest of the evening.

  • Hi all,

Sorry I've been away for a while. Had to phone the bank as they had reduced the monthly payments and not the term. However all sorted out and had new paperwork last night - 24 years left exactly.

We are really unorganized for Christmas this year as we haven't got any presents yet. Think we need to pull our fingers out. How is everyone else getting on?

  • Had a lovely weekend at Chester Christmas market, picked up a couple of Christmas presents. Also ordered stuff online so at least we have made a dent in the list.

Also managed to pop into the bank and make our regular £450 op. I can see online that it has been applied and we are just under £93k. Will update signature when paperwork arrives. It's great to think that in 2 years we have knocked of £11,400. Just the motivation to keep going.

  • Paperwork came at the weekend so signature has been changed.

I cannot believe it's almost Christmas, I feel so unorganized. I have not wrapped a single present. Is it just me that's panicking?

  • Hi RT,

I think you have done amazing in 2 years. I really wish i'd been so MFW when we got our mortgage 5.5 years ago.

I am almost done with the present buying but still feel like i'm missing something. Need to buy and write the christmas cards still..eek

  • Hi diamonds,

Thank you for stopping by. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a marathon and not a race. I see the outstanding balance and get a little down that there's so much left. But then remind myself what we have achieved in such a short time while still enjoying our nice holidays etc. I am in awe of your achievements in how much you have cleared in your signature.

Wrote and posted Christmas cards yesterday and also now have all presents. Just need to find time to wrap them.

  • Well I've had an up and down few days. Hubby did the overpayment the other day. £450 a good way to start the new year along with the Trelfa twist of course. I have also joined the 2016 mfw challenge.

The bad news is that there was a meeting at my work and we were told the bonus scheme we are on (approximately an extra £2.5 - £3k last year) is being pulled :(

While we have budgeted without that income, I was using it to add to our holiday fund. Which meant that we could go on our far away holidays.

  • Checked online and can see that overpayment has been applied. Debt now £92,371.86, which based on what we bought the house for takes us down to 79.63% ltv on the worst case scenario that our house hasn't increased in value.

  • Gosh January is such a long month. It seems ages since last pay day and ages until next pay day.

Forgeot to mention that the weekend before last the pilot light of our boiler went out and we couldn't get it to stay on. A plumber recommended by someone at hubby's work came last week and ordered a part needed which should turn up any day. Then he needs to come and fit it. We have been without heating for over a week, but still have gas to cook and electric shower to wash. Just thinking how much we are saving in heating lol. Only down side is that it'd going to cost £110 :( with this palarver we realized that the boiler hasn't been serviced for 3 years :S

  • Wow we had some snow this morning, hope it wasn't too bad where you are.

Got home to find the mortgage paperwork and we are down to 23 years and 4 months left. Last night I mentioned about trying to clear the mortgage in 10 years total. As at our current rate we will clear it in 12-13 years. But he wasn't keen and had to remind me that it's a marathon and not a race. Does anyone else feel like trying to clear it more quickly?
