What do you feed your dog?

I feed our 8 month old Lab on 225g dry food in the morning (James Wellbeloved, was the one the breeder used) so that she can work to get it out of the Kong wobbler and treat ball, and Natural Instinct in the evening, one of the 500g tubs.
At the vet for a free Health check on Saturday so must ask if she is getting the right amount.... (or too much!).
Cost - estimate about £60 a month.
Interesting to read what people say about 'itching'.....pup does have a good old scratch, not sure how to tell what the difference is between a normal scratch and an irritation that comes from something in the food? Will have a look at the James Wellbeloved ingredients and the Which site.0 -

I'd try switching 100% to natural instinct and seeing if the scratching reduces. We did and within just over a week pup has gone from being a very itchy dog to not at all! It was a miracle.0 -

mines on wainwrights complete puppy food, turkey and rice. its about £40 for 15kg. The pup is 5 months old...doesn't seem to like it too much though, she just sniffs it and eats it reluctantly. Im not really wanting to change the food as on a previous supermarket brand she had loose stool, bad wind and very very itchy skin. Thats all settled down nicely now, she is a healthy weight and has a lovely coat. I don't really know what do do next..advice appreciated .0

We feed raw from Raw to Go, both the cats and dogs love the raw meats. We love the firm stools and no smells

My dog generally eats what I. he loves liver, steak, lamb and pork but isn't a fan of chicken, he likes fish, raw mushrooms, celery, carrots, cucumber and green beans..he wont eat the dog wet food, have tried him on a few different ones but he eats doggy bacon and bacon and cheese twirls, rawhide sticks, dog biscuits and doggy chocolate also loves peanut butter and I love watching him try and lick it from the roof of his mouth

I feed a mix of CSJ's Herbie Rings and That'll Do in the morning, and Baker's (want to take him off that but am finishing off the pack) in the evening. Mixed into both is a quarter of a can of wet food.Sealed Pot Challenge No. 3530

I had a similar problem when first starting with Eden.
The first grain free I tried was Canagan which is very good but very expensive & I made the switch very gradually. No problems at all (except to my bank balance) with much firmer/smaller poos, even my boy who has had bowel trouble all his life.
If you can afford it then I highly recommend it but add it slowly.
Due to the cost I decided to try Eden (£20 a bag cheaper), like Canagan it's grain free with a high meat content but stupidly I didn't wean them onto it....big mistake
What I didn't realise was that Eden is very "generous" with it's recommended daily amount and, at around 80% protein, feeding too much causes rear end problems.
Before giving up I checked the interweb & many people had the same problem, the advice was to cut the amount fed.... trial & error gave excellent results
Both mine are now well happy on around 2 thirds of what Eden advises.
I'd like to try Millies Wolfheart but am loathe to switch again unless problems arise.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0
