Mine have CSJ which is good quality dry food and costs about £1 a kilo.
I add a bit of Butcher's canned food to it and the dogs love it.0 -

Rocky is on wainwrights mature turkey and rice kibble. We tried him on a bag of the large breed (he is about 29kg) but he really wasn't keen on it, so he's on the standard one. He also takes a joint supplement.
He's been on it for about 5 years, and was on JWB before that. I am always really reluctant to change his food, he has quite a sensitive digestive system- I changed it to the duck one once, and his itching was driving me crazy!0 -
Hunter is fed on Eden , £50 ish for 15kg lasts about a month. He is a yr old 30kg lab. http://www.edenpetfoods.com
He also has bones and dentastix. :-)0 -

Zara is on Orijen Fish, from Zooplus, a 13k bag costs £79.90 - it works out at £40.00 per month to feed Zara at desired 36kg.. she is overweight now.
May need to rethink food choice in a bit as current work contract due to end in 2 weeks :eek:0 -
Dry, Wet, a mixture of the two, Raw, Home prepared etc
Raw for one. 50/50 raw and wet for the other.
Do you stick to a particular brand or are the main ingredients more important (duck & rice for example)?
I stick with grain free wet. And get my raw from manifold valley meats.
Do you buy the food based on cost, perceived quality or just because it suits your dog?
I have to take cost into consideration when buying the wet. But the dogs needs always come first.
Do you read the list of ingredients before you buy? Are there any that would put you off buying?
Always. Nothing goes in my dogs that I don't know 100% what is in it.
Anything with grain in goes back on the shelf. Few others too. Meat and animal derivatives unless I've contacted the company first to ask exactly what these are. A lot of German foods offered on zoo plus use lung, kidney etc so it's basically offal, totally different to what meat and animal derivatives would mean in a UK made food. Derivatives of vegetable origin. EC permitted additives.
Is there a food you've tried that has caused problems & you now avoid at all costs?
One of mine is grain intolerant so anything with grain in.
In an ideal world, what would you feed your dog (forget cost & everything else)?
Raw would be as it is now. Wet would be organic like Lilly's kitchen.
No ulterior motive for me asking, I'm just interested after reading through http://www.whichdogfood.co.uk/
That's a great site, I always recommend it.Sigless0 -

She has 700gm a day over 2 meals.
I thought that wasn't too bad...:o
She weighs about 33kg
I feed two 26kg dogs a month for £35-£45 a month. £45 is if I have spare and get extra bits.Sigless0 -
Thanks for the replies, I'm a little surprised with the number of people feeding Raw.... I thought it would be less.
I'd love to try it but with two DDBs (around 85kg between them) it's a lot of "meaty bones" to store. Also the OH doesn't fancy it, I've tried to talk her round but......
Currently grain free, feeding Eden dry mixed with a small amount of Rocco wet which has made a big difference to my boys "dodgy" tummy... no squits for months now & much less to pick up

You could also look at http://www.millieswolfheart.co.uk/#/salmon-vegetable/4567346779 slightly more expensive but it contains more salmon & less potato % wise than the other two. They also sell sample packsAlways try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0
