But I guess I will have to pay again for install as builder will say its not his fault goods have failed ?

He supplied them and they failed within 6 months.

Sale of goods act and builders problem?

Your contract is with the builder. Where he sourced it from is almost academic. He needs to take the issues up with Howdens. In my experience, if a builder has a complaint from a customer about the kitchen, they change the offending item without any question.

I have had a couple of post installation defects on the Howdens kitchens I have installed (30 or so in the last 4 years) and if something is wrong they change it without question. If your builder is decent, he will change it free of charge as part of his customer service. If it's only a straight swap, it's only a couple of hours work.

It is the sink that is rusting? Or have you say use a steel wool (aka brillo pad) and left tiny bits on the sink? Stainless steel should not rust but it can pit by chemical reaction (leaving food on cutlery for example). Barkeepers friend or another abrasive powder should get off wire wool rust spots.

well , they LOOK like slight rust `lines` , going along the side of the drainer , and along the top, happy to be able to be able to get rid if possible rather than a replacement!

    does this picture help

Dan dan, you need to clean the sink more often:D:D:D:D

Seriously, listen, it will be either staining from tea bags, wine etc, or,

Rusting, and yes, poor grades of stainless do rust.

Don't equate a supposedly quality sink with a properly made 1, some bottom end manfs. (howdens included will use bottom grade S/S that rusts)

Rod T you need to make up your mind, either go with your post #5 or #11, you can't sit on the fence:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

And you need to learn to read the whole thread.

    #6

The builder bought the sink from howdens not the op. Advice was changed when the op provided full information. Looks like the laugh is on you.

Post #6 is irrelevant, it was always, and still is, the builders responsibility, you were the 1 that read it wrong early on, I continue to:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I read the whole thread thank you :T, but unlike you I didn't make the assumption that the OP had bought it independantly to the builder.
It was quite clear from the 1st post what had happened.

    Morning

Our stainless steel howdens lamona sink on the draining part looks like it has rust spots already after only a few weeks after install

We look after it as you should but inevitably it will see a lot of water !

My question is if I complain to howdens and they provide a substitute , who pays to fit it ?

    Cheers

    Complete kitchen install btw

No mention of paying a builder to supply and fit it there.

The sink gets a clean obviously but maybe we should have been buffing it up with stainless steel cleaner as well
