Hello boys
well we havent used a brillo pad no , but as cycolnebri says its kind of brushed top all the way round the edges that is kind of scratcy already does that make sense?
Its a shame we didnt realise howdens own sinks were `poor` quality...surely better than a bog standard sink from homebase though?
In any event , some kitchen bleach spray , and firm scrubbing with a standard green scourer , has removed the stains that i showed in the picture , i think its a case of really looking after it and investing in a decent sink in a couple or maybe three years time
thanks for all adviceNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Not exactly the maintenance free sink you hoped for then.0

quite , though to be fair it took me all of 2 minutes to do what i describe , we just didnt `like` the fact it looked like rust already!Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

So it probably was tea stains that some tried to ridicule me for saying earlier?
Point of fact;
I deliberately bought a very coarse grained S/S sink set to set in our granite tops. Satin 1's don't work, they get scratched up and look sheite, hence my choice.
If we don't bleach it once per week it goes brown as per yours
, good look
PS.
Don't equate Howdens to quality, MFI were great, you knew they were the cheapest, problem was they were too cheap.
Howdens fixed the price issue, but you still pay the real price. Quality remains the same.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
def wasnt tea , we dont drink it , it must have been standing waterNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Doesn't sound like they are. We bought a cheap as chips, bottom of the range Homebase sink in a DIY emergency 5-6 years ago with a view to it being temporary, still looks great, we haven't bothered to replace it.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Then it is rust/oxidisation of the ferric content in the S/S.
AS before, crap stainless that actually stains. It will continue to do it when wet, unless you keep polishing it out,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

As you say will call howdens see what they say but can't imgine a stainless steel sink should be showing signs of rust already !![/QUOTE]
I thought that was the point of Stainless Steel it won't rust!0
