I don't pay a huge amount of attention to these, One card I recently applied for and was approved for says I have a 10% chance of being approved.0

Are you sure the 3 month offer on the Initial card includes BT's??? I thought it was 3 months 0% on new purchases......
Erm ................... maybe I didn't read it properly :rotfl: I'm sure your right. Although these "eligibility" checks are clearly not infallible, I think they are the way forward. At least if it says no or offers an alternative product, you know where you stand before a full credit-search is performed.
Incidentally, I was told eligible for 29 months but have not done full application.
My partner told eligible for 29 months but declined on full application.0 -
Thought id try this myself, just curious. Did the application for the 29 months 0% BT, said I wanted to transfer £5k and got Its good news, you are likely to be eligible for this card. I have been an MBNA /Virgin customer several times before, used for BT offers and always made payments on time so maybe that helped?0

Received the confirmation email from MBNA stating the application approved and the credit limit of £2400. It says card and pin will be with me in the next 7 to 10 days.
Curiously before I did the MBNA checker, I did the Fluid one, it said no for the 29 month fluid card but offered the same one as MBNA have given me. Except the APR on Fluid is 22.9% not 20.9%. They have emailed me as well to remind me that I should click on the link submit my full details and I stand a good chance of being accepted.......
I am going to resist I think but it would be interesting to see if they would issue that as well. I don't want to rock any boats with the MBNA card though, as Fluid is issued by them.
I would say to anyone else whose applied for the 29 month card but then been offered the 16 month one, it might be worth the search on your file, as it does seem to work.
Still don't get how my own bank who I have an unblemished record with and 3 years of history will let me have a £300 overdraft facility (which I never use) (but nice to know its there) but won't consider me for one of their credit cards. I tried them first, flatly refused 10 mins later MBNA approve me with a £2400 starting limit............ very strange!0 -

Agree I think the days of people saying try your own bank you've got a better chance of acceptance is long gone."You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -
I tried the eligibility checker and it told me that they couldn't offer me anything. However, I've just moved house and I'm not on the electoral roll at my new address yet. I'll try again once that's sorted next month.0

I think that as well, it is only a few weeks ago that I got an offer through on my account for a loan. I put in £7000 over 5 years I think it was and came back and said: From the information we have about you we think that might be overstretching your finances but they offered £5200 instead. It said just click accept and the money can be in your account the same day!
I declined to proceed as I didn't want the loan, I was just curious as to what they would give me. Now not even the minimum amount of credit on a credit card only a few weeks later.
I guess we will never understand how they assess people and decide what they can/can't have. I might log in and ask to up my O/D for the hell of it and see what they say to that:D0 -
Has anyone got both MBNA and Fluid cards?
I've had MBNA for about a year now and they recently doubled my credit limit. Just wondering whether I'd be eligible for Fuid as well.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
